Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth

Well right after my post, my brother informed me that he wants this truck!
He said to leave the light buckets the way they are,but wants to add a lift
axle:eek:.He has looked at my trucks and decided to get into rc trucks himself,
and begged me for this one.

I have most of the parts for the lift axle, and the frame is long enough.....
but I will have to use shorter tanks.

Any way here are a few mock-up pics,I guess its going to be his truck now.

How about some details on the lift axle? I need one for my Sterling but not sure of different ways guys are doing this. 'course I haven't even searched the boards on the subject yet...:D

I am going to have to do some looking myself.I have never done a lift axle!
I'm sure I will figure something out......if and when I do,I will post pics.

The cool thing about him buying it is he said he will leave it at my house!

Thanks for the comments from all of you!

Snekey Pete,

I'm sorry to bust your bubble but the axle on an A Model if the hood is adjusted right is right in the middle.

Here is a pic of my buddy's 78 A model which I drove to this little truck show out side of Des Moines Ia last yr.

Also thought since you were doing a red and white truck this might help with the matter..............

Here is a pic of an 81 that I took in Illinois last yr with 22.5 low pro on

The black A is owned by Robbie Spencer out of Pa and it is an 82 it got most of it's look from the prior owner Justin Lang. Have seen in person still a nice ride for sure.

Good luck
Wade

Arioch - what size is that copper tubing?
and how long is each piece that fits over the stock axle?

Wade

You are not going to bust my bubble.....I will always take criticism!
Thank you for saying something.

I don't have a way to measure a 1:1,but just eyeballing it looks like the
stock King Hauler kit's front axle is to far back, and or the hood to short.

This is not going to be perfect anyway, but the more I do the more I learn
from all of you guys!

Thank's:D

It's looking better and better! I finally have my Knight as a roller and have been undecided on what I want to do with the body. I may just try to copy you except with the sleeper.
