Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Hey Joe, can you let some air out of the tire's LOL:p
Yah I should know better:eek: I'll bet you can figure something out:D Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug. |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Your ADT is coming along, thanks for the video's and photo's Elliot. I am the same regarding the speed control on the pump, just can't get my head around that, I get it for one function but not for all of them..
Have you put it in a scale yet, it looks like it has some weight to it. cheers greg |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
@Rob... thanks, I wanted this for so long, hence spent many an evening putting it together... I will run it like this for a while, just to see if there are any teething issues...
@Joe, Make the window bigger, you only need 1/2 inch and you're there! It'll be the perfect companion for you new 360. Ref the turning circle, Frank said it had a much better turning circle that the wedico, the tiles are 13" just measured the gap that it turns in, its 54" or 134cms So pretty good... @Greg.. thank.. not weighed it yet, but its **** heavy. Will put it on the scales tomorrow and see how much.. I had it out in the Garden today, 3 year old daughter sat in the bucket, that made it work hard.. but it took it all within its stride... One thing I like, is how the middle axle tyres fold/scuff when turning corners with a load on.. just like the 1:1. |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
thank you very much
it is not what i had in my mind that the insides looked like for some reason lol these pictures help clear a lot of things up for me thanks again Quote:

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Been a while since the last update, popped over to Germany for the weekend to visit the Karlsruhe model fair/show. There was so much to see and do, I completely forgot to take photos!
Little update.. Fitted the rear straps that allow the rear flap to open when emptying the rear bucket… not much to look at! http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2436.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2437.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2438.jpg After looking at some full size dumpers, I decided the try and route the rear hoses a little tidier and more realistic to the full size. A good friend of mine knocked up a t-piece arrangement on his mill and I fitted it last night Before http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2441.jpg During http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2442.jpg After http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2448.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2447.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2446.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2445.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2444.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2443.jpg |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Looking good
|
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Elliot, the "T" piece make a good model look even better, it certainly has tidied up the hoses from the dump pistons to the main body of the truck
|
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Does anyone have the correct web site for the Vario Equipment, please.
Thank you, Jim |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
http://www.vario-earthmovers.com/
That's quite a trick piece your buddy fab'd up for you Elliot, notedly an improvement for appearances sake. |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Thanks Guys
I know it doesn't offer any better performance, but I think it makes it look a little better.... and slightly more like the 1:1 version :) |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Looks great, why the switch to the blue hoses? Did you loose any cycle speed on the dump cylinders?
|
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Quote:
The blue hoses are polyurethane and much more flexible than the black nylon hoses, I will try and find black polyurethane for the final build after paint. Ref cycle speed, I haven't lost any time, but this is mainly due to removing the Y piece from within the cab and replacing it with this external T piece. Hope that makes sense! I also released or should I say, was told, that because I installed a filter between the tank and pump I was restricting the oil flow into the pump, I removed this and have turned the pressure back down to 12bar and everything is now quite quick. I've even restricted the amount of servo throw on the bucket in order to slow the bucket tipping, more like the 1:1 model. |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT

Is the ID of the blue hose the same as the black hose? Are you no longer using a filter or did you just change where it is located in the system? Nice Machine! |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Hi Smallhaul,
Both the blue and black hoses have the same internal diamter. I think it 2.5mm from memory. To be honest, I haven't yet reinstalled the filter yet :o but it will be in the return pipe when I do.. Elliot |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Hi Elliot !
Please extend the hydraulic lines between front end and rear end (manifold and front end), otherwise you get any problems in difficult terrain. Especially, who tipped the front of the car in one direction and the rear vehicle in the opposite direction. Since the hinge is located and thus the hydraulic line to short, and could tear or be damaged. Nice model, .....german engeneering at its best:D Ultrashort |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
"Lil-giants" thank you for the web site. Very interesting machines.
Thank you, Jim |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
I find myself liking this ADT more and more, with every picture. So if I'm right here, it looks like Vario will be producing the ADT as well, even though it is not of their design, at least not originally? Same guy who designed the excavator also designed the ADT, but he is not employed by Vario? Wow, these models are incredible.

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
I can't wait to see it painted. With less hose I assumed the cycle time would have been shorter, but I didn't know.

NICE craftmanship. I liked making the cylinders, it's a good challange. Can't wait to see it working.

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Elliot, did you ever finish your Bell? Get any paint on it?

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Great display of agility for the truck. I figured you'd be done by now. Looks good, keep it up.
Ben |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Looks like you came close to falling off a few times Elliot. I bet that heavy dumper would dent ground! :D
|
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
You're not wrong Joe... I am struggling to get used to driving a vehicle that bends in the middle and doesn't self center when you let go of the steering... like a RC car or truck does.... I need more time on the sticks I think. :o

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Update!!!
The Bell has been stripped and is with the painter! Watch this space for reassembly.. one day :o Pigfarmboy asked Do the cylinders come pre-soldered in the kit form? You added the rear flap opening or that is kit supplied? Hi, yes the cylinders come pre soldered but need to be assembled, I think you can order them in any format you want, given your skill level or budget. That goes the same for the entire kit, you can order is at a just laser cut pieces to a complete built and painted kit. Again, it depends on your skills and budget. I can't weld, so went for the welded version. The tail gate flap is an optional extra. There are a few optional extras that are needed to make it a complete unit. Are you thinking of one? Elliot |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Yup thinking of doing a 40D. Thanks Elliot!

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Looking forward to see the build up, what color did you go for? :)
|
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Quote:
Colour wise, I asked the painter to try and get it as close as possible to original Bell Yellow. |
Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT
Thanks for that link, I'm considering welding one up myself. Just drooled on myself looking at the outrunner motors with gear reductions.... :P
