Nuthin' really. I just prefer the scale looks of the Rust axles over the Wedico axles, even though it's kind of neat to have the remote lockers. I still have the Wedico axles, but if I go Rust, which I want to do, I'll be getting rid of the Wedico axles.

I am really digging the hex bolts - that makes the frame look so much better!

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Have to agree here that the bolt heads make that truck so much more apealing. I wish most mfg's would get the idea when they build a kit to include bolts like that for those that want it to look more realistic.

Thanks again guys! Next update will have parts from Brian, John and Rod, some will say I'm just bolting together other people's work, well, I am but I'm also smart enough to know when to call in the big guns.

Good builders know where to get the best products for what they are doing,
no matter what it is (house,car,computer,guitar,airplanes...etc) and
rc trucks!

The truck is looking good and that suspension and axles are the bomb!

Great photo, Craig. Looks like the Pete just needs a grain tailer behind it now. Suppose the farmer is talking to the trucker, as he has come to pick up the trailer.

Claus 11-24-2011 12:47 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Hey Nathan thanks! If a certain cheese-head would get his mill up and running that trucker could be hauling that farmers tractor on his new drop deck trailer.;);)

John the pipes couldn't have come out better!! I kept going back and forth thinking they would be too big in diameter for a Wedico, now I don't know what I was thinking, IF I ever end up building another Wedico I would order up a set of your pipes the minute I got off of the phone from PMD.

Thanks John!

Espeefan 11-25-2011 02:57 PM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Craig, I hate to say it, but I told you so. :D I remember when you were asking me if I thought the pipes were to big, and I said, "Buy'em!" If you hated them, and I knew you wouldn't, I'd buy them off you for my own truck. They are awesome. The whole truck is awesome.

Not much yet, I have some ideas of a longer frame and maybe a headache rack but I'm taking a break from the Wedico right now. Maybe in a few months.

Slight update, added about 3" of length, some custom parts from Espeefan and Russ (I'll show more of them soon) and lowered the rear suspension.

Dr. Seuss frame rails installed. Still needs front bumper, different mirrors, longer fuel tanks, headache rack, fenders, etc., etc., etc. Also have some different suspension parts coming, have to get this truck to sit level and look scale before i quit.

More parts, front bumper by Russ in the Boneyard, no mounting holes showing. Front cross member and hood hinges by Nathan and the Southern Pacific. And RC Damper servo mounts machined down to Wedico size by Lynn TC1Cat. Thanks guys! You Rock! Also Wedico 1/4 fenders, mounted loosely for now.

That looks really nice. I especially like the front cross member and hinges - would those work on a King Hauler?

Looks like the driver is very happy with all you have done :)

I wouldn't think so. Tamiya kits are 1:14.5 scale and Wedico are 1:16. Claus mentioned that the servo mounts had to be machined down for Wedico, but as original they would work for Tamiya KH, but everything else was made specifically for Wedico. The guys who made the parts might be able to and already might have items made specially for Tamiya though.

I have noticed that most guys just scratch build their own hood mount hinges themselves. I have not seen that anyone is making them for sale.

PS: Sorry, nearly forgot Claus, this Pete is looking incredible! Very clean and very scale and I really love that suspension man!
