Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Thanks for the comments Nathan!
I thought of all the problems and mods that I would have to do to get it in this truck.I will probably add a mfu,and that wont happen if I put in the cat. The fenders are easy to do......just make multiple cuts around the edge, and cut it away from the hood starting at the back all the way up to the light bucket. Then heat the fenders to shape! I will sell you the cat and radiator if you want it! |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Here are the pics of what he did,.....it can be fixed with some patience!

Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Ouch! Chip that filler off and it would be ok. But it would probably take as much time as it would take to work the fenders on your other shell that already has the perfectly formed top to the hood. Not a criticism in any way of your brother's efforts - my build has had filler like that applied and removed several times over! Learning as I build. Means it takes twice as long!!
p.s. I spy a unibilt pete taking shape in the background, nice! Your workbench is a regular assembly line!! |

Yes I have a pete in the works in the background......between all of my other hobbies! |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Looking real good.

Thanks Mike!

Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
small update!
I got it primed, installed headache rack, and added Brian's pre-cut deck plate! http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02696.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02694.jpg I'm not so sure on the rack mount:confused:....does it look ok,or do I need to come up with something else? |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
hey troy i like the rack just not the mounts :(
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Was the original mount too high? Maybe just add some diagonal bars like the original setup, maybe that's what's missing from the current mounts. Looks good anyway, deck plate is cool.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
This thing is looking awesome so far, nice job.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Thanks guys!
The more I look at it the more I hate the mount......it's gotta go. The stock mount is to high, but I may try something else. |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I am finally getting around to a small update!
I decided to drop the lift axle and shorten the frame, and have been working on my headlamps.I have not had much time lately to work on my trucks, but sometime is better than no time! I have a lot of filling and sanding to do,but thought I would throw some pics in. The car in the background is a hint at what my next project will be:D. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02730.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02735.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02734.jpg |

Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Looking really good, Troy. I was happy to see an update to this build. Hoping to see even more, soon! I have no clue what 'seminol' is, but are you building a drag car hauler or something?
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Wow! What a beauty. Shortening the frame was a good decision.
Thumbs up! Cheers Pip |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
That looks great! Love the way you re-worked the headlight surrounds like the real thing.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Hi just a thought are you going to blend the hood sides to the fender like i have on my kw ? I think that it looks so much better than just leaving it stock ! Super lookin rig i would love to have some of those rims there the dogs dangles lol
Dave |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Super cool rig, it just looks so bad. Bodywork is sweet, really nailed the KW look. I am so envious of the rims, they compliment the truck well.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Just awesome Troy...Hey Nathan...Seminol is a type of paint design..Kw was the first to offer this design...This was the conventional design..:D
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...pete/00162.jpg this was the seminol in cabover design..:D http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...752820Copy.jpg |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
That Kw is looking awesome man, nice job. Hey Jon youll be gettin my cab soon LOL. Im waiting till after Indy to drop it off.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Ah ha! I understand now. Yeah, that paint scheme is making a come back. I see it on a lot of trucks, even if it originated on KWs first. That would look good.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Thanks guys, and yes Dave the fenders will be blended to the hood.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Sneaky,
Nice job on your truck, why did you take out the 3rd axle? Looks good keep up the good work. Amanda |

I am removing the lift axle because I change my mind a lot ,and was going to build a lowboy in the near future for this truck. Now I decided to use it to haul my cattle trailer. Here are a few more pics of were I'm at now. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02780.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02778.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02779.jpg This is the paint scheme I am going for http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...an15/00681.jpg |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
 been awhile since I looked I like that blue , Troy , Looks great
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Troy. That truck, along with your other rigs are TOP NOTCH.Man your trucks look cool and real, like the 1:1 rigs.Great job.
Ed |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
the blue on the frame really is great looking.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
This things lookin killer Troy. The steps look spot on and I like the blue..
~Mike~ |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Looking really good! The steps are very nice. Off the same kit that my new Cat engine came from? :D I like the blue. It's a good color. I remember you thought about doing a faded paint scheme. Still headed that way?
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Very nice,I like the step where did you get them?
I wonder why you took out the 3rd axle,LOL Amanda |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Thanks for the comments from all of you!
The paint is sonic blue pearl, and your right Nathan....the steps are from the 1/16 monogram kit. As of right now:confused:,I still plan on doing the worn out, faded paint, lots of chrome... trucker on a budget look! |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I like this build a lot, keep it up. The colored frame adds to the realism of the kw, weather its that blue or the red it used to be. Nice job.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I had a little more time,so I laid down some more paint.
Now I need to wet sand, add the gold and white and clear coat. This is the nerve racking part:mad:. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02793.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02796.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02797.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02794.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02798.jpg |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
That truck is beautiful! I know your building a daycab, but with the cattle trailer I think a Wedico 60" sleeper would really look nice on the truck. Very sweet truck you have there.
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
WHOA!! That is looking good there Troy!! Keep up the awesome job.
Brian |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
this thing is looking sweet man, I'm loving this build
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I may have missed it but what blue is that? Nice and deep and its not done yet. Gonna be hot!
