Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Yes, good to get out of the mud!
Avg winter... couple wks of -20's with a couple feet of snow, followed by couple wks just above freezing to nearly melt it all away... 10day ago it snowed 3day straight a couple feet, then the wind blew it around a couple days to make some deep drifts... I didn't go outside for a week, travel through the tunnel out to the shop :D ...now it's been above freezing the last week & not much snow left. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Hi Joe
Its all looking good on your construction site. Glad your not snowed in anymore cannot be fun, well apart from focusing on your construction projects.:) Thanks for posting updates |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Being storm stayed a week or more doesn't bother me at all, just keep track of the forecast & prepare in advance. ;)
This week's shop project was making a welding table... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psjznnaqmh.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psyjpwy99u.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pskttu75az.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps8iyovvwj.jpg The table is 4 x 6 feet, top sheet is 3/16 thickness, I built it for building models. Sitting down to weld I'm steadier now with the tig, welding steel or aluminum is much easier. :) Time to start making trls for the 4206. :) |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Made a new cage in aluminum for my JD850's rotary screener... the welds aint pretty, but it's not coming apart either :D What a difference in agility a few less lbs makes hanging out on the end of an out stretched boom
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psrs48mcsg.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psthkeyshi.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pslzbb30rw.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps6n8wjn3s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psllg0go5b.jpg Got a quick-tach coupler for my SA 963 & STahl WA500, plus 4 buckets & the U blade, plus an adapter for the Braeker lock for oem Stahl bucket. Mr Braeker sends out the necessary glue for the stainless steel, but I need to provide my degreaser as that's a hazardous goods that can't be sent in the mail. In the shipment Mr Braeker sends a note that the instructions are provided in PDF on his website & gives a username & password to the buyer to access them. ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psxwhzfmgr.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psrebc01wi.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psziauwxsc.jpg Mr Braeker's suggestion to use 120 grit to buff the stainless steel with before gluing & painting. ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps4fqgojjo.jpg |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Those attachments look good. Which buckets did you go with? Also how was dealing with him and what kind of price was it to ship to Canada?
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
I've been looking at those Braeker kits for awhile for the LR634. Primarily the aluminum bucket with the short "lip/bottom edge?" for more breakout force and having a lighter bucket.
Looking forward to hearing about your experience putting things together, and your tunneling operation. |

quick coupler for Stahl WA500
quick coupler for Scale Art 963 adapter plate for OEM Stahl bucket leveling bucket L loading bucket XHD Rock Bucket L HD Rock Bucket S HD Abrasion U-Dozer Blade Block Handling Fork Stainless Steel Just sent him an email, he communicates well in english, shipping is cheap! 52,94 euro for 10kg box... shipping out of Europe is dirt cheap compared to anything from the USA... We don't pay any VAT, that's a european tax, but sometimes (depending on amount) you & I will pay our own pst & gst, although I wasn't charged anything on this parcel from Mr Braeker.
Built the two quick-tach couplers http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps3qsyu6tr.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psdre7wozy.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pshsg1ucej.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psrn9dn3zj.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psfy5r1qt6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pstiskam5f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps6gqsrpyf.jpg Then made the fork http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psv2tlsvdo.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pslm45rduc.jpg Then tried each quick-tach coupler with the fork to be sure everything works as it should. ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps97xycj9f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psrkgfkau8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pswjsgi8iu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps9xgyhksk.jpg It says in the instructions to not glue anything until all pieces are fitted together... well my clumsy fingers were having quite a time making that happen without pieces falling out of place, so I glued a few pieces in early steps... then discovered at the end why that was a bad idea.  ...a bit of trouble fitting the last piece of the puzzle, but I got er done with a bit of careful filing. ;) The next quick-tach coupler went together much easier & I didn't glue nothing till every piece was in its place. ;) A top quality product, buy with confidence. Got some farming to do next couple days, build the buckets on the wkend. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Those look great. I wonder if the servo will interfere with anything as it seems to stick out a bit. I went on his website he must be using a small ram to lock it in. Looks good either way. Are you gonna be painting or getting them powdercoated?
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
I'm sure he's got servo location figured out, these quick-tach couplers have been available for yrs, I've seen many of them in videos from all over the world. The hyd cyl is another option, if you wanna go to the added expense of adding an aux valve. No powder coater nearby. The quick-tack coupler I think I will leave stainless unpainted so the moving parts always move freely, won't paint the fork either. The buckets will be yellow, tape off the quick-tach area so the paint don't cause any problems with coupling.

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Very impressive, gluing metal together, TO COOL ! Thanks for the information Joe..

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
XHD Rock Bucket L.... about 2 hrs sanding, deburring, cleaning.... then 3hrs so far gluing, just a couple pieces left to fit & glue.

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Wow Joe looks good .curious to see how well the glue stands up..I wonder if there is a way of cleaning the adhesive off if needed ..sure if you wanted you could tig weld some spots .good to see you in the shop making stuff ..Like the new welding table ..will help to keep a good steady hand .
Hows is the weather co-operating .I may have to make another road tip there soon ..I will keep you posted |

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
That bucket looks mean. I'm sure the glue will hold up well.
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Great project going there. looking forward to see it in action.......crunch crunch video time maybe .........:D
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Nice Job. It looks like you are on a mission to get those attachments built. Tobias has refined his laser cutting to reduce those burs. That helps a lot with time. Makes it much easier.
As for the questions about the glue holding, I have the same HD Bucket that I use on my 966 sometimes. It is as solid as can be. Loctite 435 is amazing. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
That's right Neil, in the instructions it says acetone will dissolve the glue, and if the metal glue nozzle blocks up, a quick bit of heat from a lighter will solve that. ;)
The sheets are 1 to 2mm thick, my tig skills need a lot of refining yet before I'd try tig'ing something as polished as these buckets Lou. :D The weather warmed up Tuesday to hi's of +5 or more, looks like it's sticking around awhile, hopefully for good... got a lot of work to do prior to seeding that's about 6wks away. Oh man, did I dogf/k the winter & didn't get much accomplished. :( Bo, the way youtube has changed it's resolution settings, my old gopro looks blurry even with it's hidef setting @ 200mb/minute, my video posting days are pretty well done with just a wireless connection, too slow & too costly! rc13 (forgot your name or maybe you haven't told me, can't remember :D) Yep! only couple wks left of winter hobby time, hopefully get all these buckets done by the wkend... grain hauling this week got postponed b/c of the sudden warm up to next week, hopefully my yards are dry then. Finished up the XHD rock bucket L this morning http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psorhj7jpu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psys0fuv06.jpg The brass bolt detail is glued in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psczwa79ml.jpg Moving onto the XHD rock bucket S (this is for the Scale Art 963), the smaller sheet had a lot of splatter from the lazer cutting on one side, chewed up the orbiter sand pad a bit to get it buffed out. Wipe clean/degrease with acetone... twist the parts out... file where needed... start fitting pieces together... maybe by 5pm have another one done :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pshfyheqxm.jpg |

"Bo, the way youtube has changed it's resolution settings, my old gopro looks blurry even with it's hidef setting @ 200mb/minute, my video posting days are pretty well done with just a wireless connection, too slow & too costly!"
That sucks......ugh. Was hoping for more entertainment. They Don't make things easy for Guys outside town anymore. I was Googling High Speed Internet in Canada.......O'boy no fun reading at all........I understand your frustration. Well there is one reason to start planning a road trip.......i wanna see more of this continent anyway. :D And your great project i've ben following for many years by now. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
That sucks your not gonna be posting videos anymore. It is a Hassel to take the video, edit it, and then upload it. If you would mail your edited videos to be I'd gladly upload it to YouTube for you Joe. One bonus living close to a city is high speed Internet.
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Rural Canada is not great Bo, wireless is expensive & data restricted... about the only negative I can think of for the living in the country, but not that much of a priority to ever consider moving to town. ;)
How would that help me Evan when the video email needs to be of good quality to still upload to youtube? My Izzy dozer tracks are wearing out! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pszbt4ug7f.jpg I had just enough slider travel to take out two links to reconnect the track. I put the lighter set of springs back in, it'll help lengthen the life of the tracks somewhat... but after trying it out the track is still skipping in reverse, not forward... strange  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps6dkbdc8y.jpg Shorten two links http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psajrso6hb.jpg Before it was shortened two links http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psnqmy7dzd.jpg I forgot to take a before pic, but before taking out two links the front idlers were another 12 to 20mm ahead so at certain positions of the blade near bottom of travel, the grouser bars were catching the eye bolts on the lift cyls. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps90jnvbji.jpg I need some new tracks soon Stevie  :) Operations in the lean-to last couple weeks, widowing down the lumpy pile. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psk1o27sha.jpg Pile the damp lumps on the adjacent wall... fire up the diesel heater once a day to a temp of 30C in the room to help dry out lumps quicker. ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psfbyal9bv.jpg Pile the screenings in the back room. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psfd6vpv4a.jpg Last warm spell in early March I had a screening pile about half the size as above, dumped it out the back door of the shop, as the snow had melted away , bulldozed the fine dirt out along the north wall. It's been spring temps again this last week, couple more days will make it dry enough to do that again. ;) |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
How would that help me Evan when the video email needs to be of good quality to still upload to youtube?
Sorry I meant send me it on a USB or external hard drive and mail it to me ( good old canada post) then I could upload it for you. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
...Lives so far out that that he has to mail his internet usage.
Atleast it looks like you've got better lighting and more room to play out there than the basement had. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Well congrats on finishing the big dig. How much material you estimate you moved out? Been taking me a while to get all caught up.. Oh and nice bucket! Very interested in seeing more of those new parts.

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Amazon Cloud offers a service they call Snowmobile. A Trailer filled with hdd's drives to customer's data center, uploads data to trailer, trailer travels to nearest Amazon data center, uploads data to data center. I think they started it with a service called snowball which was you mail them a hdd. The theoretical bandwith is shockingly high.
If those were rails for a fullsize dozer i'd say they are well past done. Looking forward to seeing the rock bucket on the 963 and the upgraded screening bucket on the 850. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Back in 07 when I 1st started putting vids on youtube I would take my laptop to town & drive around till I found someone's unsecured isp signal to pirate :D I might have to resort to those tactics again... I got 4G wireless in Fall of 10.
Yes it is frizzen great to be upstairs in natural light, & these LEDs lights are bright too. The basement dimensions are 18x28 (feet) with a lot of clutter in the middle, lean-to 15x42 & back room 18x30. Thanx Jason, not quite done yet, but close. I'd have to remeasure as I took less than I had original planned... it'd be mid 20's cubic yard. The buckets are a treat to put together, everything fits so perfectly. Interesting service hvy1ton, I'm sure it was conceived for remote construction sites... Finishing up the loading bucket, just the leveling bucket & U blade left to do http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pssaugrs12.jpg The 963 spade bucket in front, it's about 40mm narrower than the WA500 spade bucket. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psbkmugw88.jpg |

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Something big enough to break out the bottom of the crate?
What's in the box? |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
It's a new transistorised Turbo entabulator!
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Not sure what is in the box, but the back of that truck looks like a Chevy Silverado...
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
New dozer?
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
new internet lol
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Perhaps to make the "guess it" game a lil easier I should ask: What moron shipping company do you think it is that could blow the floor out of a wooden crate made from 1/2 inch plywood?!
Here's what's in the box http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pszcwhfmf3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps3ut3m5vs.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps4q0x2xza.jpg The steel belt pulley is bent! there's a slight wobble to it in one spot. The jaw opening is 3x4. |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Is it a rock crusher ?
|
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
Oh, look, it's a right-handed, molecular aggregate re-arranger! Shipping company must have used it incorrectly - usually material goes in the hopper instead of dropping the unit on the aggregate. Hope you get it worked out okay with them. Nice looking unit.
Ken |
Re: LilGiantsConstrCo
You betcha Mike, a big rock crusher! :D ...it will break rock, needs a 3/4hp electric motor & I have one that use to run my 21 foot conveyor that I had in the basement nearly a decade ago... geez time flies!
Ken, the maker/seller told me to get a new pulley & he'd reimburse me the cost... the pulley is on a browning hub, I'm pretty sure I can find another like it in town. ;) |
