Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
With the gear ratios you've got in the transmission what are your scale speeds?
I think you said you tried to stay close to the original ratios in the transmission, but the difference between your electric motor's max RPM and a diesel's max RPM could be why you need more reduction. |

The electric motor should reach 5,500 rpm, while the diesels do 2,100 rpm. Kerst |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I never thought I would get (into) electronics, but so far it seems to work out.
In the past weeks i worked on all the electric connections and finding space for the electronics, etc. Although the Euc has a huge hood, I had to try various setups in order to find the right setup that fits inside the hood and cab without being too visible. I bought a 8 channel system. One channel for the speed control, 2 channels for the 4-speed transmission, one for the on-off-on switch for the tipping motor, one for the on-off-on switch for the driving motor and one for the steering servo. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...92097efb_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b330f760_b.jpg Kerst |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I found the right paint for the Euc. It looks decent, the color is very nice but needs a second coat and I didn't buy enough!! That means waiting.

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
That truck is a beast.... I can't get over the skill and attention to detail some of the builders have here....and this is just another great example.

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
It took me just under 2 years to build this truck. It was a lot of fun. The transmission and the controls were the most challenging, but after a lot of tinkering it all works and it is fully remote controlled. The right stick controls the acceleration and the steering, the left one is for the 4-speed power-shift transmission. There are 2 other switches, one for forward, neutral and reverse, the other for dump hold and lower.
I found the right kind of spray paint and I am very pleased with the result. I still need to add some decals and I will also prop up the front suspension. The powerpack is quite heavy! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...90bed66f_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9c1f5c7b_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4857184f_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...77c2844b_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...94d64679_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1803bc81_b.jpg Kerst |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
That looks absolutely amazing!!!
Are there going to be covers for the passenger door esc, and right frame servo. I still can't get over the work you put into the transmission, and would love to see some videos when you're ready |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
Kerst, just a marvelous build! Transmission is a masterpiece and final result is great.
Top notch project!!!! Ken |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
looks good, been a long poject but rewarding to see finished.
now just to get it dirty |
Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
Looks fantastic

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
Glad you got this done Kerst. I guess with the big shut downs everywhere gave you time to work on something fun.

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
Amazing what you can do with lots of time. Ed

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
That looks great! Can't wait to see it loaded, starting out on the flat and then climbing a hill, downshifting on the way up.
