Re: More than just a thought ...
Yes just fine. Had it down at the Frankfort toy show a month or so ago. Did just fine. Swapped out the swing motor for a slower unit. Designing the boon parts right now.

Re: More than just a thought ...
Hmmm, been hibernating most of fall winter. Have had the tubing and sleeves for the boom. Waiting on cable spools. Hydraulics made me water to hit it with a hammer so I gave it a rest.
It will be at the Lebanon show and of course Indy Lebanon show link http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...ad.php?t=11044 |
Re: More than just a thought ...
Been a long winter with many distractiond, but with the help of a good couple friends getting the bug to build again.
So if some of this is repetitive - appologies. But this is where I am at. Lift cylinders, another learning curve here. Thought that sir fittings were air tight right? Not so much. Have to replace the fittings, they leak. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...pskzuz4u6a.jpg Over all shot, not bad. Going to use an idea from a fellow member on the wheel inserts. Stock foam just way too soft and machine way too heavy. Craft foam sheets is where I am headed. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...pskjdqrvzi.jpg Boom sections -just finished bolting up. Need spools - friends are priceless. Had to have the caps remade since I designed them too small the first time round.http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...psylaberoz.jpg |
Re: More than just a thought ...
Looking good Izzy, hope to see it in any form at Lebanon.

Re: More than just a thought ...
Great project Izzy this one must take up a whole shelf :D
|
Re: More than just a thought ...
Impressive!!! Knowing how big the front sheeves are, gives me some idea of the overall size. Can't wait to see it!

Re: More than just a thought ...
Yes whole shelf and whole bench. Part of the reason why I bought a utility trailer for my rc's. She won't fit in the Envoy.

Re: More than just a thought ...
After mocking up the boom I set her on her feet. Wow, almost had rims string on the bench the tires were so squished. And that's with the stock foams.
So been asking around - see previous posts. So This is what i did Dissassembly, http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...pshjlxqupi.jpg Donor wheels with hard foam inserts http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0z8oqvan.jpg Slice part of the carcass off http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...pso7fltthd.jpghttp://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps623aawvw.jpg Wrap 2 side by side in craft foam sheet - test fitted strip in side tire to get correct size. Had tried tires along but did not fill inside space. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscyqmxvlx.jpg And then squish it all inside. Good thing these tires are soft. Then used clamps to clamp together. |
Re: More than just a thought ...
After having had bolts fall out of these rims, I drilled out the 2.5 mm holes and put in 3mm screws, thread the outer shell to keep the stud look.
|
Re: More than just a thought ...
Used 25 donor tires, 2 sheets of foam and 132 screws to do all 12 wheels.
Just finished them yesterday down here at Travis' so no testing yet. Let's hop this works |

Re: More than just a thought ...
Looks good Chris! What's it weighting?
|
Re: More than just a thought ...
Not sure. But I don't think I can lift her by myself.

INCREDIBLE Chris!!
Can't wait to see it in Lebanon. -Terry |
Re: More than just a thought ...
Great craftsmanship, you have some serious building skills!:cool:
|
Re: More than just a thought ...
Busted a nut loading her in the cargo trailer. Traveled ok but rolled a bit, no damage. Ran it yesterday, moved good even with all the weight. Need to add more gear reduction. For some odd reason a firgelli extended while I was driving and got ripped apart. Will need a power cut out installed to prevent this again.

Re: More than just a thought ...
Hello everyone, I haven't died or nothing, just keeping low on the radar and workin lots of hours.
Crane has new style swing out stabilizers with heavier structure. I see that photobucket has my photos up once again. I'll have to try and figure out why.... |
