Re: D11 New Project
Wow! This build is amazing, you really are doing a great job with this dozed, I hope one day to have the tools and patience to do a build like this, but for now I'll just keep an eye on this awesome build. Keep up the great work.

Re: D11 New Project
Paul, it looks like your going to knock this one out of the park. I wish I would have had CNC when I built my dozer but then again I'm not smart enough to figure out how to use it. Great job, looking forward to more.

Re: D11 New Project
Awesome work!! Your a true craftsmen!!!

Re: D11 New Project
That's nice. It looks very exact. Do you have a set of blueprints you are working from, to build to scale?

A lot of work was needed on the drawings by a couple of talented guys Robert and Alex to make this project come together. |
Re: D11 New Project
The next parts to be made is the rear ripper frame, there was 2 operations for what you see now. There is another 5 operations to finish this part.

Re: D11 New Project
I know this has probably been said over and over again, but this dozer is amazing! Some really good engineering going into this biuld. Can't wait to see more!
|
Re: D11 New Project
Ah, those are some great looking parts! I'd love to have the ability to machine things like this! I need CNC!
|
Re: D11 New Project
Here is another shot of the ripper, Hopefully this gives a better idea of size. Thanks for all of the good comments.:)

Re: D11 New Project
Paul one word fit it ( HUGE ) and very nice work. Ed
|
Re: D11 New Project
That was a lot bigger then i thought it was, **** this machine must be huge when done, great work!!
|
Re: D11 New Project
Some more detail is being completed now with the high track idler and the recessing of the drive gear to take the new bolts.
The motor mounts should be complete in a week or so, then the long awaited motor test.:bounce: Paul http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...ps10e8de1e.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f7e67b2.jpg |
Re: D11 New Project
It looks very good, and durable as well!

Re: D11 New Project
Amazing work and details, can't wait to see it moving! :)

Re: D11 New Project
Drool!

Re: D11 New Project
Looking good titandigs, when you finish it and then if you want to make it into kit to sell, I would buy one off you?
regards From Cameron. |
Re: D11 New Project
The dozer may well be made into a kit or pre assembled but it would depend on the level of interest. Having said that there is a long way to go before completion of these three units and a lot of testing (fun).

Re: D11 New Project
Mature response: Drool.... dribbling appropriately....

Re: D11 New Project
Hi Paul,
Nice work, I saw them in Robert's workshop yesterday, they become more impressif ever time. looking forwart to see them moving. |
Re: D11 New Project
Hello Paul very impressive job and the size is great, the only thing I need to know is HOW LONG BEFORE I GET MINE? Ed
|
Re: D11 New Project
I'd register interest, either kit or RTR
|
Re: D11 New Project
So work has started on the motor mounts, squaring up and proper alignment will follow.

Re: D11 New Project
I'd be interested to see this become a kit as well. That ripper is huge! I didn't think it was that big. That's impressive. Of course a 1:1 scale D11 is a monster too, so it's not that much of a surprise to see it takes two hands to hold the ripper.
What kind of motors are those? 12 volt? |

I will re weigh the machine soon to find out where is at for weight and put it up on a Wedico float to put the size of it into prospective. The motors came from a friend in Germany. They are a worm drive unit and are 12 volt, from memory they do about 21 rpm and stall at about 7 amps so they should be strong enough to do what we want without breaking the drive line inside with to much power. Testing will tell. Paul |
Re: D11 New Project
Sounds interesting Paul. 7 amps is pretty low current draw, but with two motors, I guess you're up to 14 amps, stall current. That's still not bad.

Re: D11 New Project
Paul,
Quick Q: Are you planning on powering the motors with ESC's? I think it will be interesting to see how the Wedico float copes... I haven't seen one in person to get a feeling for how strong they are... but I have a feeling this model will push the limits of most 1.14 floats... Cheers, Andrew P. |
Re: D11 New Project

The speed controller I will be using is a Servonaut M220 for tracked models. I think to be honest the Wedico float will die a crushing death but will put it on to have a look anyway. One of the guys here in Perth has an RC4WD trailer and I think they are rated to about 80kg |
Re: D11 New Project
Amazing build...keep the photos coming! P
