Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)
How wide are those axles from flange to flange ? Does the brushless motor reduce length on the whole gearmotor ? I'm thinking going that route on the pans to gain much needed space on the pans . I'm really impressed the way the 4 gearmotors work on my compactor .

Roughly 8,5 inches.
The Stahl axle is quite a bit narrower, but the weight of the model is carried by that gearhead output shaft. That's where Fumotec's axle is different, the weight is carried by the axle itself. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps23c47f28.jpg |
Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)
Thank you Joe, I think those motors would do . I assume you have to supply the ESC's ? That tractor is pretty interesting . I could find many uses for it :D

Yes, they were in addition to the kit cost and Frank got me what I needed to make it work. ;)

Quite the opposite Jason, dreaming of my hobby & blocking out all the other gazillion things on my mind is what puts to sleep. :) Another growing season is just days away from starting.
Yeah, I'll spring for a hotel room for you guys to stay at if you do come... my house is so full of boxes of projects waiting to be built & worked on! Hopefully everything goes according to plan this summer to get my workshop done, so I can get my hobby out of my house (out of the main floor anyway ;)) Not overly warm this afternoon, but with the wind in the NW, I'm sheltered. Got another couple wheel barrel loads of dirt out! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyXCkf8_UFo |

That looks like soooo much fun. Best thing is that you can always play, rain or shine.

Wow joe-another entertaining video! Fun with a purpose-I like it!!. Looks like you have the routine down perfect. Running-2- trucks to the pile and loading very quickly. I like the way you use the large bucket to maximize loading efficiency. I see all these powerful excavators with the tiny buckets and think-what a waste. I wondered if I was going to see-2-trucks going up the ramp together and then I would be really impressed!!:D. Great job and still watching for the D-9.

It seemed like the nose had oodles of space in the beginning...

I thought three wks ago this would be a snap to put together now that everything was painted & I had all the parts to put it together... the metal etch primer I used on the metal parts is not doing its job, lots of paint chips to touch up. :( Where does the time go  I should have been done this by now! |
Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)
Nice work getting all of that to fit, and thanks for all the pictures.
Are those quick disconnects? Are they the ones from SMC? I have been doing research but am still lost on what I need to buy. Is the side that connects to the hose a compression fitting? Or does it have an outer shell that you tighten down over the nipple to keep the hose securely attached? |
Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)

Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)
It's taking me awhile to catch up on your thread Joe... I have chuckled a bit reading up and thinking how long your project has been around. I was worried for a minute you were close to wrapping up and then...I read about the tunnel!! Great thread Joe, I love watching your projects, BTW the 4206 is a nice addition.
