It’s not been listed for many years (Fumotech). And eith the current exchange rate, it doesen’t really matter ;)

I guess you’re not thrilled about the snow comming back, but good for us waiting for YT-clips:D

Forecast is looking good for the end of the week Emil, finally, I still got room on my data plan to make another vid or two this week using the lower vid setting. ;)

Radio tuning is half of it rookie, making the model respond to your comfort level, I might get a chance to meet up with you guys in early June.

What you talking about it Shawn? you do just fine with your ME hoe... play with your EPAs & dual rates/offsets to make your model react faster or slower.

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

Got my farming all done by Monday, been spending the last couple days tinkering in the shop on my side dump trl, trying to figure out placement of Actuonix actuator.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psl1rrexxb.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps4oyhf0zh.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps5vv2fiak.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psviiz4k3l.jpg

This Clinometer app that Cooper showed me yrs ago is quite handy for tasks like this to know what my dump angle is... I want to be at least 34 degrees for any wet dirt to completely empty out.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...pszn9qfab3.png

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psvxqvlim2.png

Right side frame rail was in the way & I shortened my temporary lower mount a half inch too, now I think I got it where I want it... time to mill some lower mounts to weld in place.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...pseeah5qpo.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psiyrra3fv.jpg

This is at 34*, 62.5% stroke on the actuator & still have some box sticking out past the tires.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psi7f4vvcp.jpg

Full 100% stroke @ 50mm is 56*.

Looks like you're going for a box style side dump with gates hinged at the top? Have you thought about powered gates hinged at the bottom like this?

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

I'm curious to see how the actuator holds up to the weight of a full load, I was kind of expecting to see a multi stage hydraulic cylinder.

Lil Giants 05-31-2019 11:30 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

I looked at many of side dumps last winter like the one you posted hvy1ton, two things that concerned me; 1) a lower hinge drop down door, keeping the grit out of the hinge so the door doesn't bind, 2) having enough electric power to tip the box.

I'm hoping with the amount of overhang I have & a narrow frame, it will tip easily... the current Actuonix actuators I have are the highest geared/lowest powered 30:1 L12, I made lower mounts to put 3 in if need be. If not, I'll try the next gear ratio.

Get this working well, then make another side dump like it for the other 4206 to pull... 5 trucks hauling out my basement per trip, about 20 gallons. :) ...it's getting to be a long haul & all this exercise chasing two trks around sucks. :D

Hydraulics are messy rookie, trls like these I can by with less power using actuators, makes swapping different trls so much quicker & cleaner, don't have worry about any dirt contaminating hyd systems. ;)

Chasing trucks? I figured by now you'd be setting up some kinda FPV rigs on them, sending the live feed back to a big monitor

Had a special episode of Gold today! Awesome to meet you Joe, you brought some serious equipment and skill. I really want your excavator, just need to win the lottery!

Joe let me try his two rock trucks one remote trick at the beginning of the day, that's a serious mind bender! Going to take some practice to master that one.....

Thanx frizzen... got any links to show how I would set up something like that? I tried using that "back up camera" system a few yrs ago, it gave a reverse image which in of itself was kind of mind bender to use, looking at the monitor if I turned left it showed the trk going right on the screen   I couldn't turn the mirror effect off.

Yeah, it was great fun being on set, a part of the show, but it took all day & didn't leave any time to visit with you guys & shoot the shyt... maybe next time Aaron. :)

Thanx Evan

Unfortunately so Cooper, my body talks to me everydayas well & reminds me how old I am :(. Yes it was Saturday, a great b-day present being a guest on the YouTube Gold Series

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

It was great seeing you get to visit the mine! Shame about so much fake drama in the main vid. The single remote double trucking really seemed to school them.

Basically it's just hooking up a few parts
Camera (can be integrated to vtx)
Video TX, powered from rc rx or a seperate battery
Video RX (that can listen to vtx in format and channels)
Display (goggles or monitor)

Pretty good overview, doesnt go "drink from the firehose" level
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...t-Person-Video

I'm not up on Canadas laws for any freq or license restrictions that may exist. But it's kind of: pick vtx & camera size the model can carry, pick a format (pal / ntsc), pick how to watch it, figure out what works together in your price range. 'Buy once cry once' vs 'My entire setup is cheaper than your goggles'

Hi Joe,

I know you've changed pumps on your 450 but can you tell me how you've set your TX up?
I'm a little unsure about pump speeds and what my mixes should be set too?

Thanks Calum

Lil Giants 08-05-2019 03:11 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

Yeah, I went the next size smaller Jung pump (4002#, 0.30ml/revolution) & I have my brushless motor set to 6500rpm (max rpm is 9000), math works out to about 450ml/minute, right where I like it.

Excavator controls are ISO: boom/swing left stick & stick/bucket right stick

My pump is on Gear switch, when I turn it on motor speed is about 30%. Channel mixing speeds it up to 100%. You can't have these rather large brushless motors start/stop from 0% b/c it takes a small amount amp stall every time & heats up the esc. European & American electronics have thermal protection built into their esc's, when esc overheats, esc will stop working till it cools down, then it works again. Chinese electronics don't have these fail safes, when they overheat their either burnout & don't work again or worse, catch on fire! ALWAYS HAVE YOUR HYDRAULIC PUMP RUNNING WHEN OPERATING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM NON STOP

Channel mixing is virtually the same with every radio system, 1st channel entry is MASTER (valve), 2nd entry is SLAVE (pump), then get your + - 100 values in the correct order so your hydraulic pump spins in the correct direction... that's all there is to it.

I play around with dual rates & expotential/offsets on hydra valves & swing to vary digging speeds for fast or slow, but it's not necessary for basic operation.

Lil Giants 08-05-2019 03:31 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

On a different note, I haven't posted anything new the last couple months b/c I got busy middle June with crop spraying & when I was nearly finished I had an accident on the farm July 2, cracked my right heel, a slip & fall from about 4 meters. A check up with the doctor last week revealed that my heel hadn't healed any, but rather spread open a wee bit. Gonna be in a cast for another 2 months for sure... getting around on crutches ok. Last week found a place in town that rents out wheelchairs for $2/day, at least now I can spend a few hrs in the shop a day tinkering on projects, but the quarry aint crutch/wheelchair friendly, no rc fun till probably halloween :(

No matter what, I'm gonna have to get in a combine next month to start my harvest, profit margins are just too tight last couple yrs to consider it custom done. I have the same helper as last yr coming again so that's some relief to get 'er done.

Thank you Joe, I was unsure if I should have the pump at 100% speed or not. I have my mixes setup already, which seem to work proportionally with stick inputs.

can you explain what you mean by - 1st channel entry is MASTER (valve), 2nd entry is SLAVE (pump)

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

Wow, that's a good fall, glad it wasn't worse!
Why does a 'wheelchair rental' place sound like they'd send someone over to dump you out onto the ground if you missed a payment?

Then he goes fpv and starts sending equipment down there to make the mine ramp ADA compliant...

Lil Giants 08-06-2019 04:44 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

I didn't get time to set up my fpv setup... sure would be handy now... though with my luck the battery would die when the trk or equipment was out of my reach  :D

I'd like to keep the wheelchair, reasonably comfortable & quick to move about the shop. :) I wonder what they cost?

ddmckee54 08-08-2019 01:37 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

A quick Google search puts the cost of a wheelchair at $100-$200 so the question of buying one will probably come down to flipping a coin.

You just be damned careful getting in and out of that combine, falling on that heel again will NOT do it any good.

Don

Lil Giants 08-08-2019 06:05 PM

Re: LilGiantsConstrCo

New aluminum crutches were dirt cheap, maybe a wheelchair is too, thanks for the insight... I have very good handrails to get up & into combine cab and I'm going to strap on a knee pad too. I've got a heated seat, I've always used it all day on low, does wonders to keep from cramping up. I've built up a lot of strength in my arms & left leg the last month, lost more than 15lbs too which is good. :)

Thanx Tony... my foot is still in a cast, go to doctor on Monday for check up & hopefully cast taken off, virtually zero pain the last month & I can put some weight on it.

Still not done harvest & it's been been wintery cold & snow here last two weeks, so I guess I'll be finishing my last 5% in the Spring... first time that has ever happened... brutal fall weather, very few in my area have completely finished & most of those who did are freezing high moisture grain & hoping it don't go bad before warmer spring temperatures... overall though, a very good year, lots of bushels, majority of it great quality & prices are on the rise. :D

Doing some tinkering the shop... got some new treads from an Australian on Facebook, tracks that were meant for the Eagle Mach dozer, I got them mounted on my Izzybilt dozer.

https://i.postimg.cc/fWCjWHc3/019.jpg

My good friend Lou on the Island cut me a new set of sprockets on his cnc mill, getting the pitch dialed in perfect... I couldn't bolt the hubs on b/c hub diameter too big to let the sprockets sink into track link deep enough.

https://i.postimg.cc/PJj3GPnB/006.jpg

https://i.postimg.cc/SK9fykdq/008.jpg

I didn't have any 1,5 inch aluminum shaft, so I made new hubs from steel & glued them to the aluminum sprockets, same glue I use on the Tobias Braeker buckets, I'll see how long that lasts, I don't get to the city very often.
