Very nice! The firewall is perfect, and that's a clean location for mounting up your ESC. Lots of room under the hood for a battery or other electronics, I see!

Holy aluminum, Batman! That's awesome!

Thanks guys. Some more aluminum was added today:rolleyes:. I finished bending up the exhaust and welded it together. Hopefully there aren't any leaks when she finally gets flashed up!:D I also mounted the oil filter, finished up the battery box area and step. When I was looking at it the other day, I realized that the rear springs are nearly bottomed out already(less than 1/8" travel). I guess I will be making my own leaves for it to fix that problem.

Awesome work once again! I'm sure you are a DIY guy and not interested but there are some nice aftermarket spring suspension options out there.

The one in the first three pictures sure looks nice. I will most likely build my own but more so because I have already spent more on this truck than planned...Funny how that always happens....

Thanks for posting the pictures. Is it just me or is rigidrc's site not working? I was trying to look at some diffs they had but couldn't a couple weeks ago.

Wow, this is a phantastic Dumper. I love the selfmade parts. One million points and stars, and thats not enough. Perfect work

Reg , looks to me like you have adjusted to the 1/14th scale quite nicely my friend. Takes talent for any scale and you got it !
To build this so quickly makes me think.... Probably no "re do" parts laying all over the floor either eh? ;):p:D

Re: Hayes HD dump truck...RCP's style

Thank you Wolfgang!

Yes I guess I am getting adjusted to the smaller scale Mario. I think if I were to do another complete scratch build it would be in 1/10th just because I like the size and weight of them and how they don't ping off of every little bump and pebble. This has been a lot of fun and no stress compared to machining axles from blocks aluminum without CNC, welding up I beam frames and making intricate suspension parts. The truck has come together quite easy and because of yourself, Wayne and John S. donating parts I have less in this than I do invested in tires alone for the 850KW and trailers! The redo's have been pretty minimal too but the hours are adding up I'm sure! I still have a few things to do detail wise but the list is getting short.... I got to drive it around in the shop today too!:D:cool:

Reg, with the non-hydro dump bed and the choice of transmission ScrewDriver seems like a fitting name for your truck.

Hahahaha! Nope not calling the wife that....Maybe wish that I was:D:cool:

I can't say anything too bad about her because she sat in the car for 3/4 hour today while I was at the hobby shop and I didn't even get slapped when I came back. She had the keys and didn't drive away with out me either... Come to think of it she probably knew that if she left me there I would just buy more stuff.:cop:

I bought a brand new $50 battery and came home and cut it up. I wanted the battery under the hood but I couldn't fit a 6 cell stick in there so I cut the last two cells off and soldered them back on with some longer leads making a hump pack out of it. Once that was done I got to do this...

The drive motor is causing some grief with the dump motor. At full throttle the dump motor glitches and slowly goes up. I think I need some of those rings that you put on the esc wires....It probably doesn't help that all of the stuff is in such a confined space.

Re: Hayes HD dump truck...RCP's style

Thank you very much for the compliments.

After messing with ferrite rings and a list of other changes I discovered that the glitching issues the dump drive was having were caused by the 645 steering servo. It works flawlessly on it's own and as soon as I unplug it from the rx the dump motor stops messing around so I swapped it out for a 485. I am guessing that the problem is more to do with the Sabertooth's 1amp BEC than the servo itself. My KH runs the same ESC but different servos. It has issues when both steering and shift servos are struggling but it just stops until the esc resets.... Stupid electronics....or maybe just stupid installer...lol
