Aircraft paint stripper is good stuff to, spray it on and watch the paint/crap bubble off after only a couple minutes. Stuff eats right through rubber gloves!

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

I was going to try and save you from yourself Brandon and suggest you leave the trailer as is but then I thought, that would cause Reg to have a heart attack when all that extra work he did just so it could be polished didn't happen so.... carry on my friend. I like ya but hey, we can't let anything bad happen to Reg ;).

Which reminds me, have you been eating right and exercising regularly Reg? How's the blood pressure? What's your mental state?..... wait! Don't answer that last one! Not in public anyway;)

And that folks is the most kick a** trailer you will ever see! I can spot Steves wheels from a mile away, in less than a second. They are second to none hands down.

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Hahaha thanks Mario :D

Reg what size socket did you use to tighten those tiny bolts with ? I see there's two different size bolts both very small.

RCP57 04-24-2016 09:05 AM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

The bolts are 2-56 and 0-80 thread but I'm not sure of the head sizes. I made my own socket drivers using socket head bolts.

You might try this place, I believe they have the tools.

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Looks like those guys only have metric although they sure have some small sizes! I get the SAE bolts from Micro Fasteners and I think this tool kit would do the trick. https://www.microfasteners.com/wrset...et-wrench.html

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

If you look up wiha premium tools they carry metric and sae socket tools . Also JIMorris and micro mart sells a set of 4 socket drivers which can be installed in a screw gun for more speed lol

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Atleast I have some neat little wrenches...could come in handy one day working on something lol who know's.

Northern Farmer 05-02-2016 11:09 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

I just emailed MF concerning the socket wrenches. Not sure they sent me the right one's...think these are metric ?

RCP57 05-02-2016 11:28 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

I think they are metric. The link I posted before was for fractional sizes. You might get the bolts out using the head on one of the 3mm metric bolts. I think that's the same deal as the 0-80.

Northern Farmer 05-02-2016 11:29 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Haha boy do I feel like a dumbass!...didn't realize you used 3 different tiny bolt head sizes. So small hard to see a difference looking at them. Wrenches work on 2 bolt heads out of the 3. The tiniest one's you used for like the shovel brackets it doesn't fit. No biggie I'll take my time working around it.

Northern Farmer 05-02-2016 11:33 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

#0 = 3/32" fits 0-80 bolts
#2 = 1/8"

RCP57 05-02-2016 11:34 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Should only be two different sized bolts? 2-56 and 0-80. Unless you are also referring to the nuts which are another size. Glad you are getting it figured out.

Northern Farmer 05-02-2016 11:42 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Can you see the difference ? Isn't much smaller but just enough for the socket to spin freely.

RCP57 05-03-2016 12:32 AM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

It is still 0-80 but I did notice some inconsistencies in the heads when I have been using them. Some get stuck in the tool I made and others fit loosely. I guess quality control is harder when they are so small.lol

Northern Farmer 05-03-2016 01:06 AM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Oh ok good to know...yeah I guess so lol

Just to give you guys an idea how much work Reg put into this trailer...and that doesn't even include the chassis  Now the fun begins! :D

driver abuse, your all the same lol!!

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

One thing I noticed my old socket drivers work well (30 plus years ) recent ones aren't as good . The Morris ones are still the best . On screws I have sent some back cause the heads were crappy .

RCP57 05-03-2016 09:21 AM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Looking good Brandon. Not sure if you noticed but the braces underneath the tub are shorter near the front. I think I put a scribe mark on the backside of them? Anyway it's a noticeable difference in length so just make sure the long dongs are on the back half when you reassemble.:)

Northern Farmer 05-03-2016 09:52 AM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Sorted them now and just noticed the markings. So if I have this right the one's with the markings go towards the front half of the trailer ?

Polished everything on the buffing wheel with rouge buff compound. Finished it off with Mother's aluminum polish compound to get that nice finish. Still many hours of work left but it's slowly getting there!

Reg do these trailers include Dried Maple Leaves and Beaver Poop Loads? Trailers already have the tarp to keep that stuff covered up!
