I got myself a pair of 3D joysticks to control the hydraulic grading bucket a little better, its night and day from what I had erlier, I only got one wired up for now becuse I got no function for the other one yet.

Thanks guys!

I also made some steel hose protection the other day, a trick I took from a German guy, simply steel wire turned on a steel rod using the electric screwdriver, turn on as tight as you can then pull out to the desired length. Cheep and looks great!

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Well, winter is here, more time for hobby stuff for me, always fun! :)

I have modified the undercarrige a little on the 470, its a few things that have bugged me since the first time I used it outside.
Its the holes under the top rollers, where all kind of debris gets in, and its not the place where you want sand, small rocks and stuff like that becuse thats where the drivemotor is and also the track tension mechanism, debris also gets down onto the lower rollers that way and locks them up sometimes.

And I have to take this apart quite often to get rid of all the dirt that builds up in there to make everything running smoothly.

So I started to make a sketch in Solidworks on how I could make it work, found a pretty good solution I think.

Started to cut up the steelplate with the holes in it, removing 5mm from the outer plate to get an angle on the new topplate so that dirt rather falls off the undercarrige then just load up.

Got the new steel from my laser cut man and started to spot weld everything together today, turned out pretty good I think, its more to scale and should keep dirt out of moving parts!

Here is some pics of the progress...

Here you can see the square holes im talking about.

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Not much digging with the 470 lately, now fall is here and winter is coming, so I have started a little attachment project.

Its a rotortilt, very common here in Sweden and the nordic countries around. So I started in Solidworks to sketch it up, I have only used SW for about a year, so im no professional.

I have printed a prototype in my 3D printer and it seems to work out pretty good, motor I have for rotation right now is a bit slow but will probably change that later.
The tilting action will be hydraulic.
It will also feature a remote controlled quick coupler for easy attatchment changes.

If it works good I will send the files to a cnc guy to mill them out for me, the lower part will be made from steel and the part above from aluminum.

Here are a few pics.

Thx!

Exactly, great for prototyping, but can be made really strong as well, but plastic is plastic, I prefer metal for strength and realism. :)

Thanks Joe, yeah, as of now I find it more fun to build then run it, I think I just need a project to dig, can't just go out and dig a hole, I want to do something.

I did see your reply on YouTube, maybe I will CNC it, but this rotortilt isn't something for your hard digging! :)
This is made for more precise type of work, grading, slopes, backfilling etc.

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Finally got all the machined parts for the Rotortilt attachment, everything works great when all assembled, almost no play between the upper and lower part and still rotates smooth so Im really happy with that! :)

Only thing I need to adress is the quick coupler on the rotortilt, the space for the gearmotor is 0.2mm to small so I cant fit the motor, dont know who to blame here, but I will solve it in the coming weeks!

Here are pics from Photobucket, dont know if you all can see them though.

Yeah, finally! :)

I made a few extra, if it works like I want to I maybe sell 2 of them.

Nope, no building on the crusher for a while, the crusher unit is pretty much done, Im serching for a more powerful motor still.

Im not so good at calculating gear ratios, rpm:s and all that, its more trial and error for me! :D

I haven't seen much for video on your old crusher, has anyone sent vids to you?

I don't think I'd have much use for a tilt rotator myself, but I think I got 5 guys (including myself) that would like another production run of your last quick coupler... would you do another run?

I got one videos of it that I know of, maybe you seen it.

I don't know really, he was really busy last time I spoke to him and I waited almost one year on this last part for the rotortilt.
So I don't think he got the time for it.

Yes I think so, I have all the files on a SD card somewhere, but I know he also stores them.

I wouldn't say there is no interest here in these types of attachments. While I certainly, at least at this time, don't have a use or need for such a device I am certainly very interested in seeing how you made it. I think you have done an outstanding job in machining and producing a very complicated object to scale. Your workmanship is first rate, congratulations. I hope to achiever your level of craftsmanship someday, seeing your work is an inspiration. Please continue to post.

So will you leave your old quick coupler on your hoe too?

I think I'll take one if you have it for sale, even if I never use it, no one will ever make one ever again to your level of form & function. That is something of beauty. Well done!

Thanks a lot Joe!

The old coupler will stay on the machine, for hard digging I will remove the rototilt and then I need the coupler.

I will start to assemble the next 2 rototilts, but cant promise any dates as when to be done.

My newer JD850 has a 4th hyd valve, it hasn't done any hard digging yet. ;)

Yeah, whenever, no rush for it, very cool attachment you have made. I'll have to figure out how to use "flight modes" on my DX18 so I can use the rotary sliders on sides of tx for tilt & spin... then we can figure out a lil competition series. :D

Second, I absolutely think the interest is around, but as one mentioned, he doesn't need it. I would guess a rototil is a bit special attachment for many people. In my local community the guys who owns the more expensive excavators are also very true to the scale. Example they wouldn't buy a rototil for a Komatsu 490 as they don't use rotaion in 1:1.

Me, on the other hand, am more true to the scale when it comes to operating the machine, digging, moving and doing things like 1:1. Therefore I find attachment like quick coupler, tilt and rotation highly interesting(and I hope there are more guys with me). After buying the quick coupler with tilt in combination with 3d sticks, on my Liebherr 954, I found a whole new level with the excavator/hobby.

Keep this attachment posted!! :D:D

Hı Kalle, congratulations. very nice machines. I will ask you a question. which motors did you choose for movement and rotation? How many rpm of motor you choose?
