Yes, finally! A little at a time. Time has been rare for the hobby as of late, but I'm making a few progressive steps.:D

Thanks for checking.

I'm slowly getting there...

Waiting for a little more hose and some additional time.

Will I have problems with the lines coming off if I don't use the sleeves on the ends?

Ben

Probably so, especially if the hose fits rather easily and the cylinder is under alot of pressure for an extended period of time. I don't like the big sleeves, so in certain places, i have used very small, black tie-raps and tucked the head underneath. Hope that helps.

Won't be long now. Ben I used the 2.5 mm hose and fittings and haven't had any trouble except when I didn't leave enough hyd. line. It needs to be square with the fitting. Looks good , ready to see it dragging a load of logs.

Thanks for the input guys.

They do fit very tight on the barbs. Hope they don't come off, but any sign of it I'll try the zip ties 1st. I'm hoping to get it nearly completed this weekend.

Re: CAT 535C Grapple Skidder

I am pretty tickled with the performance for my first attempt at one of these models. Finally after 16 months I have found the time engineering and money to do this. The battery (12v pack from PMD) seems to die fairly quick from what I thought it would. I can't figure out why my speed control will radomly just go into full reverse or forward without warning (as you can see in the one of the videos when it starts to just back up at the end), if I mess with the dip switches it will go back to "normal". I hope in Indy I can get some hands on help from you guys to help me fine tune it. The bottle in the video is a 32oz. Gatorade bottle to show the strength. I think it does pretty well.

Ben;

I like your skidder. Very good.

What did you use to "weld" some of the aluminum parts together?

Re: CAT 535C Grapple Skidder

Very very nice!
About the ESC acting up: Do you use a "self-learning" ESC? If those switch off, due to an intermittent connection, over-current or over-heating, they will come back after a short while and take whatever position the stick is at as their new neutral. I therefore strongly advise against using them, but I know some people prefer them.
Not sure what your problem really is, just had this idea...

Cheers
Jens

No shortage of power, I can see that! My favorite thing about this build is that it didn't require a whole bunch of expensive metal working machines to complete, and yet it's looks good and runs good too.

Ben, are you using the DE Sabertooth 2x12 RC ESC?
