Re: Hoarder Special!

Thanks for the compliments fellows. One more update for the week. Bullets and more bullets!lol There are a ton of forest fires going on in BC and heat records have been shattered all over the place in the last week or so. The sky is full of smoke here even thought there aren't any fires close by(THANKFULLY!) so it is really dark and hard on the eyes outside. The sky is a very strange color because of the haze but oddly it makes photographs of the truck look really good.

And an update video for the truck.

Yes I think so. Not sure what to do about the black axles and cross members if I do that though.

Looks awsome Reg. Great idea using shell casings! I wonder, is there a shell casing diameter that could be used as the air cleaner top hat?
If the truck needs a name besides hoarder special, how's. " silver bullet " sound? :D

Nice! Is that a 45,000LB front Axel?

NICE!!!! Would a .50 BMG casing work for the air cleaner top? Not sure what the diameter of one is but should be close. The .22LR casings for the marker lights is out of sight!! Would suggest some rifle casings for your air tanks but yours are too nice not to use.

Great truck! Wish it was mine :D:D

It turned out pretty cool. Not sure about a cap for the air
cleaner. Artillery shell perhaps?

Haha. Not sure if those plastic spindles will hold up that kind of weight. Funny how raising the bumper makes the axle and the stance of the truck look so different.

I was going to ask a friend for a few spent 50 cal casings to use on the tanks and possibly the exhaust but I knew I wouldn't see him for a while and I'm impatient.lol That idea is what prompted me to use casings for the hubs and lights. I spoak to him on the phone the other night and he said he might have some so I may swap tanks in the future to keep the theme going. Come to think of it, i have a 4" shell casing that we drug up off the ocean floor a few years ago. It's stamped 1943 on the end and is brass but all patinaed and green. Would make an interesting load....

Your wish can come true for the right price you know.;)

Well there are aluminum hop up options out there but it means buying instead of making which you have done so great on this rig.

I could make them but I don't really want to put in the effort and then still have plastic diffs. It will stay the way it is for now.

Thanks! I don't think I will be building another in any scale but if someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse then who knows!lol I don't think that is likely.

Here's some pics of here from Friday night before it got all dirty at the show this weekend. I ended up putting a water tank on her. It has a pump under the tank but I couldn't get the water to stop siphoning out so I installed a small solenoid valve that opens when the pump turns on. The pump could be more powerful but it works pretty good and holds about 6 liters of water. I have a video uploading of it in action but some of the nozzles were plugged yesterday so it wasn't working great. Overall I am happy with what I got accomplished prior to the show. Hopefully I can add the final details to the truck over the next while.

Thanks guys. I think there maybe a better video on Facebook but I don't have Facebook so I can't say for sure.lol I know chaseracer either took pictures or video on Saturday and posted it. Anyway, my video is not very good. The water pump and solenoid run off of the throttle channel and the truck is on the right stick. I was trying to hold the camera in one hand and run the truck with the other. Needless to say that wasn't easy or graceful:rolleyes:.

Hi Reg great work on your tanker that brass really set it off and those 22 shells for marker lights are very thought out. Keep up the great work. Ed

Re: Hoarder Special!

I picked up a new pump for this yesterday. It is a windshield washer pump from Princess Auto. No idea what it was in originally but it's in a Kenworth now.lol It had a relief valve with a really light spring. With no restriction it pumped like crazy(so did the original) but as soon as the pressure came up it dropped off. A quick dig through my spring container and I had a replacement that was sure to fix the issue. The new spring is so stiff that it has no relief:D. Anyway, the unfortunate part is that the tank was made to fit around the old pump and of course the new pump although smaller, doesn't fit well. For now it is just crammed under the tank but I will have to carefully cut and modify the tank later.:(

She's pumps out 6l of water in just a few minutes now!

Such a great build Reg, I almost want to buy you a sound unit just to see and hear it in action:p.......I said Almost!

It's not just a water truck, you could fill with weed killer too! :D.
Best looking RC water truck I've ever seen by far.

Re: Hoarder Special!

I love this rig! All the details are incredible Reg!:jaw:

Question for you, I see your awesome scale mounting brackets for the front bumper flaps and the rear flaps, but how did you attach the flaps behind the front fenders? It looks clean, and I'm debating all sorts of methods for fender flaps on my T800....anything from a standard mudflap bracket, to drilling holes in the bottom of the fender and attaching the flap right to the fender.....

Anyway long story short, was wondering how you did those?:D I hate to snag the awesome flap hangers you put on my dump trailer!:cop:

Thanks,
-Alex
