Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Lookin good Ben, lookin real good!
Kinda puts me to shame for the little bit of fabbing I've done this week to upgrade my own aging wheel loader. :p It's gonna be kick axe to see this beasty in the dirt! :D |

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Ben your brass work is absolutely amazing. The frame on that loader looks like it all just fell right together. I cant wait to see some more progress work on it and some vid's. It's kinda hard for me to tell but how large is the loader compared to a Tamiya truck? Looks pretty good size from what I can tell so far.

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Hey hey hey. You're really letting the CAT out of the bag Mr..
Woodhog- I used my bandsaw, dermal and a pilot bearing router bit to do a lot of the trimming. It got a little spicy at times with the router. Ben |

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Thanks guys. There are a lot of guys/gals here that crank out some seriously nice models, so it makes me hold myself to a higher level of building. Dam machinists! :)

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Holy cow, this thing is awesome. The frame looks amazing. Brass is popular for a lot of fine scale model builds, so it's nice to see someone scratchbuilding a model using it instead of aluminum! The styrene body work looks really nice too.

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Thanks Nate. I'd like to do aluminum, but the ease of cutting and soldering brass made it the metal to choose. With no TIG, brass will be the metal I use for my next build too.
I managed to get the steering cylinders and mounts in soldered place tonight. Ben |
Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Soldered up the grille.

Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Ben, what a cool idea for a build!
Using brass is good material for the frame too..nice work! That is going to be awesome when it is done. |
Re: Snochaser's Construction Co. Builds
Great job, just wondering are you going to be able to shift the R2? Looks too tight to use RC4Wd's servo mount bracket.

Not to hi-jack but Steve have you thought about a pull behind sheepsfoot? Would be perfect for the tractor conversions!
