Steve's wheels really help set it off!

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Looks so real and the wheels are a perfect match to the rest of the trailer.

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

hey i don't want to be that guy,but did reg do a test polish on all
the parts?? I've had some aluminum parts that just won't shine

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

I shined up one rib. Does that count? I think it will all polish up but it's going to take forever. I would bounce those new steel excavator teeth off of it a few times and leave it the way it is.... But then again I'm lazy.lol

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

the truck wash guy uses acid on our trailers so we don't shine

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Hey, I have a question. I found an old Alcoa wheel at an abandoned logging camp recently. It's got a small crack in it and its badly worn on the bead but I want to shine it up and hang it on the shop for a hose holder thingy. It's quite ugly so what should I start out with? Is there a cleaner that will take off some of the crap or should I just start sanding? PS, I hate polishing...

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Honestly when I received it and was looking up and down the aluminum I was pretty impressed already with the finish but I won't be satisfied until I need shades to fill her up! :D

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

you have a redi mix yard near you? if so see if you can get some
acid from a driver. it will bleach the rim white. then start scrubbing.
i use grey matter with a red scotch pad and a orbital sander follow by a
grey pad till smooth and shiny....... But thank god the wash guy uses acid
so i don't have to bust my a$$

Northern Farmer 04-22-2016 10:04 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Acid! I'm gonna stick with what I know has worked for me in the past Mother's aluminum polish that I get from the local hardware store. Either I do it by dremel with cotton polishing wheel and rouge compound. I have a larger electric motor and polishing wheel but don't want to use on the trailer...only has one speed and when you loose grip of the part (tends to happen handling smaller pieces) off it goes like a bullet! Often damaging the corners of the piece :(

RCP57 04-22-2016 10:08 PM

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

Mark was talking acid because of my old crusty wheel not your trailer.lol I wouldn't use acid on your trailer either.lol

Lmao my bad

Re: Vertical Ribbed Dump Trailer

cover looks good.
I'm in road salt, blue stone dust, cement powder
and sand all day. it beats the **** out of the rims and trailers unless you
buy the clear coat that Alcoa uses on there rims and alumabrite finish trailer
then you can just use soap and water and a spray wax
