Your crane is a wonderful piece of work! Details, functionality, overall look are just great. Then, you threw in the container...duh, it's just another piece of a really cool puzzle. Thanks for sharing how you did the corrugated sides - using the arbor press was a creative bonus!

Wow, Kerst. It's been a while since I've checked in, and I must say you have been busy. Those colors look great, as does all the progress on the model. A scale container to carry parts in; great idea! Dan

Dear friends,

Thank you very much voting for the Liebherr LTM 1800 as build of the month. This is a great honor and concludes about 7 years of building this model in a very nice way.
I intend to shoot some better videos and give some demonstrations, but in the meantime I am thinking hard what will be next. I have lots of ideas, but it is hard to make a decision. i will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for all your support!

In the past month I made a whole lot of accessories for the Liebherr LTM 1800, but they also work for my other cranes.
I made two hook blocks, a single sheave one and a three sheave one.
Beside that I made lots of slings and a spreader bar.

Kerst have followed your project the whole way. Absolutely fantastic work! Do you mind if I ask your profession? Also where would a new comer begin to learn to build models such as this? Can you give any guidance as to how you started or perhaps a good beginners project fron scratch? Thanks so much....cannot wait to see your next project. This one will be hard to top! Mark

Your spreader bar turned out awesome, and so did the container. I like how you made a die to stamp out the sides of the container. Thanks for sharing the process!

Awesome job! Just curious have you tested how much weight she can lift?

Thanks for the compliment. I managed to find some time and played with the crane a bit. I extended my desk and created a test yard.
This afternoon i found an old car battery, which weighs about 42 lbs and it lifted it with ease. 42 lbs at 1/24 scale is the equivalent of about 580,000 lbs for the real one.
I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Wow 42lbs! I didn't think it would be able to handle that but it does it easily. Awesome job. So how long do you think it will take you to build mine? ;)

Hey Kerst, again it's been a while for me. Not that I didn't want to. I couldn't log in, have exhausted every possible password, no joy. Had to change my user name slightly and re-register!

The crane is looking fantastic, the new components are great too. That thing's lifting capacity, it's a MONSTER! Those blocks and hooks still amaze me, just so beautiful. And the paint on the counterweights and lifts sure helps bring it all together.

I haven't tested the lifting capacity of mine. Chicken, I guess. I don't know what will give first, and can foresee horrible wreckage.

Great work! Dan
