Waiting for some paint to dry so I had to try out the beeper... I think it needs to be louder?

I think the loudness of the beeper is perfect. It is to scale of the machine, if you know what I mean. Any louder and it would be to loud for the size of the machine. Hope that makes sense.

I think so too now that I've played with it again. To be honest I can see myself wanting to switch it off eventually.lol

I played for about 15 min just before dark last night. Yesterday was really nice here so I couldn't resist.

The weather was nice here yesterday so I spent a few hours outside in the afternoon before returning to the shop. My wife wants to plant a small veggie garden in the yard this year and we would like to make some raised beds for it. I have a couple of small cedar logs sitting in the play area that I would like to have go away so this is the perfect use of them! I clamped my Dad's "mini mill" attachment to my saw and got to work cutting planks out of one log. This setup doesn't work as well as the larger "Alaska mill" he has but for a small log like this it worked OK. I may need to cut a couple more but this will give us a start and it gives me some sawdust to push up with the RC's!:D

No improvements to the excavator. I did change the oil it two weeks ago and gave it a quick bath so it looks a little better.lol It's been a great little machine and saved me a lot of money not hiring someone else.

Haha, Davy Crockett. Yeah right. I was just raised to be self sufficient and "get er done"! It's like Red Green said, "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy".lol

St Patrick's day so I had to do something green related. I don't remember when I mowed our lawn for the first time last year but I'm not sure it was this early...

In all your pics & vids Reg I have never noticed where your lawn was in relation to the house & shop?

It looks like a sunny day in June there! everything so green :)... it looks like January here being blanketed with snow again the last two days. :( ...you would never guess it was +20 here last Saturday.

The koi pond, mine was too big to cover. That's the reason I ended up turning it into the backyard dig site. The hereins kept eating all my fish!! Had several 14"+ koi and they would get them out of water somehow and just peck at them. Guess the bright colors were more attractive to them compared to the hundreds of minnows 100 yards away!!!! Looks good reg!!!

Re: RCP Compound

Shop on one side of the house, yard on the other Joe. I wanted to have both on the one side but it just wasn't meant to be thanks to some stupid zoning rules and loop holes I had to jump through. Yes the fish prison. I'm not sure if the fish are locked in or the mink, coons, birds and feral cats are locked out? It's ugly having the wire on there but a necessity for the fish's survival. The "extra" piece isn't usually thrown on there but I saw a mink hovering around a few months back and let it live. I wanted to double up the protection so some chunks of wire have been on it all winter.

I had some real fun with my Bruder loader and conveyor today. This is probably the most purposeful and enjoyable thing I have ever done with RC's. The conveyor worked awesome despite spending the winter on a bench uder the eve of the shop. It's the first time I've used it since I built it.

Nice! A few videos ago your yard was flooded. You should make a dredge and dam the water.

RCP57 03-23-2016 09:02 PM

Re: RCP Compound

I think I've seen enough water in the yard lately. Looking forward to some sun and dry ground! I do have an even bigger pile of sawdust to move now though if it ever quits raining!:D

Re: RCP Compound

Haha, maybe Bo. I got some help from my parents the other day to cut some bigger planks with my Dad's Alaska mill. We cut five 2"x12"x16' cedar planks so there is a good pile of sawdust there now! Need two machines to load the hopper!

You need to make a big haul truck to put under that conveyor.....hint hint.....1/10 would be just about right.....no more plastic stuff LOL

You know it's kinda funny but the little Bruder wheel loader is one of my favorites. I think the reason I like it is because it's fast and it actually has nothing to do with what type of model it is. I agree though that nothing replaces the larger scale, all metal, scratch built stuff. They all have their quirks and never work perfectly but it's cool to know that no one else in the world has exactly the same thing. Since I like the wheel loader so much I guess I should be building a 1/10 980 or 988. It could pull double duty loading dirt or loading my logging truck if I built a grapple for it. I just need RW to widen out his tire mold a bit and to pour me a set of four and it's on.:D

Re: RCP Compound

you need to mail cooper a 1/50 scale model of a 994!!
kinda thinking about doing it myself :)

Cooper 03-28-2016 01:36 PM

Re: RCP Compound

:DHum,, printing up the blanks are pennys in materials,,, making the mold is a little cash,,,, maybe I could make you the tire in 3d print, then you could do the mold and castings. Anything to get you started on another scratch build:D:D:D:bounce:

I'll have a look at what your thinking.

There's a brand new 988K in the shop right now ! I can take pics for ya:D or,
If you want to build something more old school ( of course you do  ) I can get pics of them to :D;)

I was thinking something like this http://allcarsnewz.com/photo/im/cate...01/default.htm

A new one would be cool too it just wouldn't match my trucks all that well. If I went new I would probably do a 980 because that would be a more common size to see in a dryland sorting logs.

I love pictures!

Haha, I've been called "old balls" before but never "old fart". Not sure which is worse but the first one happened during an interesting point in my life.lol

The outfit that had the 1-1 KW850 I modeled had a 966A with rear steer. Pretty cool old rig and I would like to build one if it weren't so small.

I was born n raised on those old girls! You love pics? How about the one on my wall that I keep saying I'm going to put in a frame someday.:lol:
I've worked on this very machine many, many times. It came to our shop and was completely rebuilt every 20,000 hrs. 3 times! had over 80,000 hrs on it when they retired it.

60cuyd chip bucket. Actually had steel rollers on the back edge of bucket and always ran on the concrete pad chip pile area. The inside of that bucket was as shiny and polished as Chrome!

Yeah that's perfect! Old square stuff is easier to build than the modern "plastic in real life" crud.

Funny you should post that picture... How do you like this one?
