PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Got started on the body work today. Going on a scania chassis I had kicking around. Probably won't do the 5th wheel lift like the 1:1s have. Just want a nimble tractor for pulling trailers around.
Still need to shorten the wheelbase by a couple inches. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7187/6...f17a3072_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7206/6...5a6a1ef8_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7047/6...9e5b2625_b.jpg |

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Nice work, pretty fast too. You did all that body work in one day?

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Great job!!! Your moving right along at this rate you should be done by the weekend.

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
way to long on the chassis. These are alot more fun if u can pick up and trailer then drop where ever u want, without touching the dolly legs.

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
LOL ... I like the "front" on the front bumper - good thing you label or it might have been mounted backwards... LOL .. .

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Looks cool Nathan, but i think you should try out a fifth wheel that lifts like the real deal. i know you can do it.:D

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
That is soo neat. I cant wait to see more pix.

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
I just said I wasn't gonna do it at first. Think a screw drive should do the trick. Have to see where I'm at for room once it's shortened.

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Cool. Another one of these little buggers being built on the forum! It's looking good, so far. Yeah, I know, you're going to shorten the frame, but I can't help but say it - It's a large car spotter! Sweet! :)

Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
Got cracking again tonight after class. Need to fab the front bumper and a way to mount all the body work. I just use CA and kicker to "tack" everything in place so it's easy to break apart when I decide how it needs to be.
Cleco clamps should be in every scratch builder's arsenal! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7042/6...99b8feba_b.jpg Access hatch boxed in: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7193/6...2de01f1c_b.jpg Rear Panel/Door: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7209/6...2be048fe_b.jpg Transferring holes over for the chassis chop! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7059/6...1623c6a3_b.jpg Short 'N Sweet http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7052/6...389738d1_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7046/6...dd48a11b_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7178/6...45df88a5_b.jpg 3-speed wouldn't fit without cutting a good portion of the floor. Gotta figure something else out. |
Re: PFB Kalmar Terminal Tractor
looking good PFB - how about a heavy duty servo to drive the lift? They can be a little more compact. Or maybe one of those Firgelli's all in one package screw drive! The cab work is real top notch.
