MACK Heavy hauler

Well I guess I might as well post this truck build since someone (Espeefan) keeps seeing it in photos of other projects.:p:D It will be a tri axle with SS front tires Stylin's pipes and sitting on Freddy's rails and painted black. Here are some pics of what I have so far.

What I started with.

Travis where did the body come from. It's not a tamiya. It looks like a regular kids toy is that right.

Yes it is one of the toys like you would get at the truck stops. Funny thing though the bumper mounting holes bolt right to a king hauler mount and the holes in the side skirts match up perfectly with the Areomax skirt mounts.

Re: MACK Heavy hauler

Mike there are allso knock offs of the King hauler and the Areomax made by Amex toys not sure on the spelling. The King knock off is so close it will mount right on a king hauler and even has the holes molded into it for the light unit. I don't know who exactly makes the MACK body I have but I know they are hard to find. Pitbull here on the board has some.

Here are some pics of Pitbulls trucks.

Re: MACK Heavy hauler

Thanks Travis. Wow I am not really into T@#$% pink so we will call it Salmon, But the Salmon colored on is a nice looking truck.

Look at the little Colman Cooler!!!

I was just wondering where they came from. I drove a 1992 Mac Elite in '92 for Bud Meyer Truck Lines (No longer around) and I really think if I was to build one of them that would bring back all those feelings of shame I had while driving it... Not to mention my knees would start hurting again....LOL

They were not a very comfortable truck for a 300lbs 6'3" man...

There is nothing wrong with PINK... Yes the stripes are pink.. BUT the stripes are about 1/32" and they are few and far between... NOT the hole truck..

Travis - glad you posted this - Guy's seen this up close the other day when I met up with Travis for a build day - this is one nice set-up. If travis could pull it off - with the interior a cat engine - boy whe'd be fantastic!

Now go do it Travis - - make us all proud.....

That's funny I work at CAT dealer and I don't have an engine to put in one and we have not had one at work for a while. Not to mention an engine and interior in a day cab I would say real close to impossible.:D

Re: MACK Heavy hauler

not impossible - best to get one of those speed controls that can fit in your tanks. Then a nice sized lipo in the other tank, Reciever under the seats or under the dash, steering servo in the motor, waite - where we gonna hide the drive motor?????

Hey can ya at least let me try to see if something works before everyone goes and try's it.... Besides Travis has that darn CAT YELLOW flowing in his veins so there is no reason for him to take the engine apart..

Which really is a good thing..have you ever had to have work done at a Cat shop...:rolleyes:

Well here is an update today I drilled the new frame rails and made and mounted the lift axle and also widened some front rims for super single tires. Here are some pics of the progress.

Re: MACK Heavy hauler

Thanks Ben the rims were widened by cutting the outside bead off of an outside rear rim and gluing it to the outside of the front rim.

Nate that was the box for the rear axle in the L Model Mack wrecker and no problem it is good to see some people really check out the pics never know when you might see some interesting or an idea for a build.:D

Ya I wish they made a knock off of the Knight Hauler cus I need a cab to cut up and it can get expensive to get just the cab and all the chrome. Might as well just by the whole kit.

The axle will be lifted by a servo but the way I set up the lift it will float in the lowered position allowing the drives to stay on the ground and keep traction.
