Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
C'mon Paul. At least it's a new truck... not like the 're-visioning' of the KH in black that came out this past year - What a crock-of ----- that was!!
Let's not discourage the Tamiya team from creating new truck bodies & frames. I'd love to see some more models in the near future ... like Marmon, AutoCar, or even a Studebaker. Those would be pretty sweet!! - RCT |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
Is ok is not a euro cab. or any fantasy body like a new optimus crab.

This truck may not be to everyone's taste but I am happy to see them put out a new US model.

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
Not really my style truck and also not a long nose pete or KW, but a small step in the right direction as far as targeting the us market. Maybe someday they will start producing some of the American classics.

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
Sorry to hear some are not happy... :( Learned long ago you can't make everyone happy.

I hear ya. I was bustin your stones a bit lol. My train of thought is any new truck is a good truck and it keeps the hobby moving forward.
|
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
No stones broken. Sorry to say if it is licensed we have to work with manufacturers. Most of them are going to want to license new items that are being sold now. They want to promote their brand and that is hard to do when licensing an old design.
There is just more to it than most realize. Back in the 70's and 80's licensing was a breeze. Just and FYI.. Thanks, Joe |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
It is a let down that they did not make a better attempt at a classic American truck. They did very good with the king and globe. They look like true American otr trucks. It would have been nice to see a Mack or IH and something that you could either build a nice day cab or heavy haul truck out of it seams all their trucks are sleeper cabs?? To me This is just an example of a cheep throw away company truck.
I commend tamiya for building these trucks for us but I would like to know they take a little insite on the people that enjoy building them. |

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
I agree it's no coal rolling western star or mack or pete but atleast it is american (kinda lol).
I would like to see more american trucks but them euro guys have us outsold for kits hands down. I guess it would make a "good" fleet truck? lol |

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
Doesn't Mercedes own freightliner now? And I think already makes a licensed euro Mercedes truck too? .if that is the case. That would make licensing slightly easy knowing they can represent a popular truck in both their euro and us markets. Tamiya already had their foot in the door at Mercedes???....

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
I'll pass!!!!! Looks boring!!! I'll just save my money for a 3D printed cab and do a build from spare parts!!! :D

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
Hope this starts the Ford vs. Chevy competition between truck manufactures and like AMT did in the early '70's when they released the 1/25th Pete coventional which eventually brought out a model from just about every US truck maker! Once this kit is released whether we like it or not we need to take it to our favorite truck manufacture and say "we'd really like to have yours if you'd get with Tamiya and have them release a kit" Now it's all about competition you just need to write your favorite manufacture.

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
How about a B model Mack . Mike

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
What the heck, they could have just as easily done a freightliner classic, but noo we need another areomax with a different grill and headlights.
That said nice execution, it looks just like the 856,000 I have seen on the road. Edit: Also a with a bit of research I found these trucks are actually assembled in mexico, next time can we get a 389 long hood with a flat top sleeper? |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
I was hopping to see a lonestar, hey guys just wait till next year and save money. Hard to picture that truck hook to a dump trailer, the only mod is a day cab and the mirrors can be use for a kw t800.

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
HMM , I see a good crash truck for the shows :D and plenty of logos that go right with it :p

I don't see a lot of condo sleeper trucks hauling end dump or lowboys. It seams they market all their trucks to pull fleet spec van trailers. Glad we have 3D printing.....my fleet of 3 trucks are now all Mack's. |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
C'mon guys, at least it's not the Freightliner Revolution...

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
OK I kinda like it but I agree looks like a solid cab/sleeper what wont be easily modified. would I buy one yea prob just to see if I could make it look good and like Steve said put a few swift logos and hang it off the bridge with my F'd up trailer holding me on like the real ones.
I love freighliners but would rather have seen an older model done not this one. LIke a classic XL. The new IH would be nice too. this looks really similar to the Knighthauler and im assuming the grills will be the same size even. the Detail I see in the pics are better then previous trucks that have rolled out ill give them that but idk im still on the fence on this one. I kinda like it |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
This things not really worth modifing unless you've run out of better things to do. If you stay consistant with the 1:1 you can make it a mid roof like my Night Hauler or a day cab and if you really want to cut one up try making it a 113" cab, as it comes it's a 125" which means cutting the hood to peices and resetting the cab to the front axle. Like I said, not worth the trouble.

Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
If sticking with the Daimler trucks group.....it would have been nice to see a big Western Star logging truck.
|
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
I totally agree that I would also like to have seen a different truck... one that had many uses for modification or at least was a Classic American Truck of the '70's. With that said, as least it's a new design and I don't want to complain too hard because they continue to tell us that the reason they don't extend the line of trucks is because there isn't a high enough demand for the 1/14 tractor-trailer line to make it worth their time.

Sadly I don't think kids these days would know what it is lol... One thought I always had was why did tamiya not make a generic chassi and make optional cabs that would interchange.. It's a simple way to offer a kit with plenty of truck options.... But again 3 D printing has paved that road... |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
well i love it. and will buy it.

Given how much the talented aftermarket that has surfaced & flourished in the last 3yrs for this specialized hobby, pretty much anything is achievable now by anyone that we don't have to rely on big model manufacturing companies to provide the product we desire the most. |
Re: 56340 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (Tractor Truck)
i guess i don't see what wrong with it? or i just like funky stuff. because i think is a nice looking truck. i rather for it to be a day cab but we can't always get what we want

My dad & I both agree it's a nice looking truck. And we're glad that it's a new design and not just a "revision" of an existing cab made by Tamiya. :p :p - RCT |
