Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Looks like to be a competitor to premacon so i suppose about the same. Maybe various prices on various models - base, base + pack 1 etc.
no doubt he will judge reactions from the show and determine demand and price. of course he already knows of a price, its just about how much more you can get when i saw it earlier today i was meh, but now it is growing on me |
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
whats the price

Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
I'm moist. I like it!
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Moist is an understatement!!!!! I would love to buy this one for sure love Komatsu machines.
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
WOW the reach looks nice and I see he already has lines ran for additional attachments.. Any word on what those will be?
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Another nice machine from Frank. It's good to see him release something a little smaller then his first excavators. A little more practical for smaller operations! How come we haven't seen or heard much about his Komatsu WA500-6? It's been released, and you can buy it now, but there seems to be very little information (no builds) or video footage of it on the web.
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Frank told me the reach was 1100mm (300mm less than JD/Hitachi) and 44 lbs is certainly more reasonable to cart around.
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
44 pounds? This one is still a plenty large machine then!
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Thanks for posting, Its great to finally see after hearing all about it from Joe. And its half the weight of the Vario, which Joe complains about is so heavy...:D Maybe this is more your size Joe. Easier to carry up and down those stairs?;)
Id like to see a picture of it next to a 1/14 Truck to get a feel for the size. I wonder how powerful the arm is? Id like to get an excavator that is a tad smaller than the Vario, which im still seriously considering, just for the ability to load a dump truck and be able to move dirt around in the box without destroying the truck like Godzilla... Godzilla=Vario. |
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
CDM, you crack me up, Damitz " we might sell you one, eventually....." lol. You are not kidding.
The 490 looks nice and I'm sure it will be strong, I just hope it's gonna be offered with some more scale and detail add ons, as of now it looks like diet food in my opinion. |

Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
I noticed that now Fank decided on metal tracks for the komatsu. The model looks beautiful and I wondering what kind drive system he put on it. Would be nice see it with some hydraulic motors.

Yup, thats right! Im thinking of converting my 470 to brushless in the future! :)
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
The price for the 490 will be around 4600 Euros, quite reasonable i think, im sure its a work horse in the smaller scale as well knowing Franks work! :)
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Does that include the VAT or has it been substracted?
The 850 3yrs ago was about 250 euro less (before shipping)... I'm assuming the price above is not RTR, but rather it has to been assembled yet? |
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Any idea of the power the hydraulic system will produce compared to the vario?

Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
3D printed quick coupler ??? sintered metal or plastic ???
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Sure look's like plastic to me. It would be nice to see it cast in aluminum, via the lost wax casting process.
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
I was a little surprised to see the 3D printed parts for coupler... I had to do some hand filing to get the bucket to fit in place, aluminum files & drills easier than this stuff! I guess we'll see how well it wears over the long term. ;)
Wedico does cast aluminum buckets & various other parts. It sure aint strong, nor does it wear well. |
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
I would've thought a lost wax brass casting to be more optimal then aluminum or printed plastic . I'll be watching to see how yours holds up , Joe . Then again , for my intent , I guess it'll be just fine .
|
Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Do you watch Daily Planet much? There's all kinds of things being 3D printed nowadays... did you see the car that was featured recently?

Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
People seem to have this misconception of 3d printed "plastic" as being a weak or inferior material.... when there are people out there making items that are extremely durable and long lasting.... I myself have proven time and time again that you can take a design and make it extremely durable. Granted, yes a piece of plastic will never be as strong as a piece of metal (steel) in this case, but for I would say 90% of what we do, it is possible to make something strong enough to take the abuse of what we require for these machines..... I obviously wouldnt make a bucket out of plastic over metal, but I would consider an arm (well printed with cross hatched fill) or even the quick release coupler, etc... I think you will be just fine...

Re: Fumotec Komatsu PC490-10
Agreed Exclusive RC
They are releasing new materials every week seems like. Even soon to be released 3D FDM carbon/glass fiber printers that print plastic then inlay the fiber into it, all aided by the software and controllable to the point of specific layers/areas receiving inlay. What you see for the most part today is just the tip of a new 3D revolution that's going to happen over the next few years. So much cool stuff ahead.... |
