Kansas Large Car
I have been looking at this forum for a long time and finally decided to build a truck for myself. I started this at the beginning of the summer. hope you like it.
Started with a Grand Hauler, moved the front axle ahead then repositioned the stock fenders. Alum. bumper and air cleaners looked better than stock. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps5j3ftjkw.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psxp5r6kvl.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps57um3qfw.jpg While on vacation I painted the cab and rear fenders. I used DuPont Croma Base paint with 7500s Croma-clear. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psnuiesuvk.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...pshgyjcwwy.jpg I mounted PMD head lights and dropped the steps and air tanks down so I could mount lights below the door. I made the panels for below the cab and sleeper out of alum. angle with a bunch of PMD led's. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psybyumyuo.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psghulbsdd.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps8xph6wcd.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psghuvfezs.jpg I mounted 22 led's in the bumper with 2 extra red ones on the back side to shine on the front tires. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps12wbsued.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psinapztoz.jpg Last thing so far is the 10 Radio Shack led's in the back of the sleeper. Still need to get the lights on the air cleaners and the head lights working then hopefully I will have as much fun playing with it as I have building it. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psuwynu5id.jpg Thanks for looking, Mike |

Re: Kansas Large Car
Thanks for all of the great comments.
I've been working on wiring until I'm about cross eyed! I've got the cab lights, and the head lights done. Also one air cleaner, they are a real pain. I had to grind a spot for the wires and sand the lip off of the leds so it all would fit together. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psclshfqkq.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1umoyga1.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0v1f8kko.jpg Enjoy, Mike |
Re: Kansas Large Car
wow very nice build of the grand hauler..great job:)
|
Re: Kansas Large Car
are those head light from pmd? i thinking of getting a set
instead of the stock 379 lights. wireing the high/low and blinker for both sides was rough enough |

Re: Kansas Large Car
I have pretty well got this wrapped up. Got the windows tinted, and had a friend at work shear some mirror stainless for the top of the frame. After I got it put together I entered it in a model show in Lincoln Ne. It took second right behind my brothers 1/25 pete. Could have been worse!

I have been trying to talk him into getting one like I've got but not having much luck! |

Re: Kansas Large Car
I've been trying to get a trailer put together and wanted to show everybody. I am starting with a flat bed as a donor. Then I had the guys at work shear me up some aluminum, 1/8 inch for the top and bottom and 20ga pre-painted white for the sides. I also got 8 of the little round magnet cups to use for my "air bags". Angle, channel, springs, and 6-32 machine screws all came from the hardware store.
First some mock-up pics to show what I'm going for. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psjsurrqtz.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psjsurrqtz.jpg Here is all my pieces parts. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psuo1thi7j.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psxruv6vs9.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psmuwc3meh.jpg This is the front. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps6e791fnv.jpg Here is the back with the D.O.T. bumper. http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psg1i0z0b4.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psokfwm78u.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psxd91tmmx.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psuk3ly1qp.jpg http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/t...psovqwfu5q.jpg That's what I've got so far. I'm planning on getting some stainless for the front and the doors. I also was going to use black balloons to cover the springs so they look like air bags. Thanks, Mike |
