:cool:Travis
That is amazing so far. |
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Thanks for the complements they are appreciated. So far it is 35in and I am guessing it will be 37 when the front bumper and the stinger for the rear is added.

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Kool Travis, its gonna need its own zip code to turn around in! :) I like those front wheels. Did you make them? They're nice.
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
No Will they were made by one of our members (ihbuilder) who is also a vendor here. Here is a link to his thread about the wheels.

Travis this is going to be Killer...
Oh and where did you get the front tires, are those the Tamiya super singles? |
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
That is killer! I'm going to bring out my tamiya bullhead for you to tow with that monster!
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Incredible project! It's already looking good, but I know it will get better. What a monster. I hate to think of the money tied up in rims and tires alone, but it's labor of love, I guess, and a fun hobby.
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Too cool! Can't wait to see it come together!
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Awesome! That's going to be a great looking truck.

Travis, that is going to be a really cool build. Here is a similar unit at Brandeis loading a 100 ton Komatsu haultruck main-chassis.

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
I can personally vouch that "00" had to dig out a 35' tape measure to lay it out. His 18" rule he normally uses just wouldn't do the job.

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
I can't wait to see this project finished, because the 1:1 is Friggin amazing. She's gonna be looooooong.

Ok "00",lets see you knock this baby out of the park! FGD |

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Very cool Travis. Nice progress. Looking forward to this one....I have a tow project kicking around in my head as well. Joe
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Wow what a great looking rig! I have seen other tow trucks on another board but they just look like toys this will be a scale work of art and I cant wait to see more.. And them wheels are PERFECT!
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Travis are you going to jump that wrecker when it is done at the Jersey show? I had a blast on Saturday pleasure meeting you. Tony
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
That would be a BIG NO on jumping the tow truck but the red truck is still ready for some more action. I had a great time at the show as well. I think you and Ben will fit in real good with this bunch of guys you two are top notch and built one heck of a nice truck, and I can't wait to see the trailer finished.

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator

Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Travis,
Here is one I took a picture of in Louisville in 09 It is too bad Jimmy is not around on this board he sells real wreckers and might have some pics also of large rotators........... Nice build look forward to it when it is done.... http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/9072/dsc00087mp.jpg Wade |
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Thanks Wade different pics are always welcome you never know when you might see something new that you like. I talked to Jimmy at the NJ show and mentioned I was building this and told him I was working off a pic of a Jardan and apparently he is not a fan of Jardan so I think I may be out of luck with him. I don't know which brands are better than the others in the 1:1's but I do like the look of the Jardan.
Travis |
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Hey Travis I have used jarden, challenger, century and they all have there good and bad
I my self like the looks of the jarden |
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
Hey Travis how about so update pics of that monster!!!
|
Re: Kenworth Heavy Recovery Rotator
The truck has been put on hold till I get some of my other projects done. I am also working on a truck for a friend of mine and his son. Hopefully I will get all of my stuff and the friends truck done for Indy and will have time for the tow truck after the show.
