Super cool truck! I like the fact that he uses it to tow a goose neck!!:eek: The engine looks like a Detroit maybe?

hippy 01-16-2012 10:39 PM

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

ya super cool ride! the web site i got that pic from said he was pulling a long goose, had 2 other cars on it. yuppers on the detroit. i have a parma hemi motor here that looks like a couple simple mods to it and it will look the same. but i am keeping the larger blower on instead of the turbo/super that's on this truck. body says it's a diamond t truck.

Bad *** idea! Now just a sound box to go with it!

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

I don't think there's much in the king kit that's on that truck. LOL

1/8 of the cab and the rear axel?? Kool build theme....

hippy 01-17-2012 06:52 PM

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

thanks, ya truth on the king hauler, but i need the frame rails from it. since i am building the king hauler too, but using a longer frame. i have a bruder mack cab here that i was going to channel, chop, and section for the cab.

sound box might be a bit of a problem. don't see a lot of room to put it in, but i will look to see what i can do.

as for the pissed off pete. seen it, looked it over. not what i want. too shinny! there are lots of others out there too, but this one is as Msmaddie said, "down right sexy"!

Hey hippy, are you going to put a cover on the pickup box?
Only room, I see for accessories.
Cheer's, Neil.

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

Was thinking of a cover. Also thinking of putting a canopy on to help.

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

That's cool! I've never seen anything like that. Sure, I saw the Peterbilt hot rods, but this one actually works and so it has more value to it. Those others, well, they will probably spend more time on a trailer, then pulling one!

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

Great concept. If you wanted to retain some of the look and usage of the bed, you could make it slightly deeper with a false bottom, ie, hide your electronics underneath and still have an actual bed with even a dummy or possibly functional 5th wheel.

cool idea thanks, i am going to do that.

I was kind of looking at doing this with my current King Hauler body - I think I want to get another body and start over with my dice and slice. Since the hood is off mine, it would work well for the Piss'd Off Pete...

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

ok so this is what i have so far:

parma hemi being converted to detroit, mack cab (soon to be massively cut up), and an interior to tear apart and reconstruct.

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

well had a spare minute today and this is what was done:

sectioned cab:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...y/IMG_2917.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...y/IMG_2918.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...y/IMG_2919.jpg

hippy 01-22-2012 09:50 PM

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

All I can say is I am shocked you just hacked up a $250 cab. That cab is one of the hardest ones to find or should I say impossible to find. To get one of the cheap trucks it comes off of is almost 250 just to get it here to the states and the cab is all that is used. On the other hand it should be a good project and you will now have a lot of pressure from those watching to make this one look good.:D

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

thats cool since all i payed was a 100 bucks for the truck and trailer.

gee thanks for pressure now. sheese, lol. try my best to get it close, but it will more likely be the split window diamond t truck rather then this one piece window.

hippy 01-23-2012 08:19 PM

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

Thats a cool truck but that guy has a lot of faith in that wishbone front end. Iv'e seen more than a few of those Hiem joints fail at rally bad times on these rods.

Re: this is my first attempt at a rig rat

That looks amazing. Rick at Precision Model. He's got some wider rims. Or the tamiya ones.

What kit did you get that cab from?
