My new project...yes.

The truck...

The trailer...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...000_0002-3.jpg

The trailer goddies. The tri-axle fenders i'm going to cut off some and mount them to the front of the trailer...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...000_0003-3.jpg

The truck goodies. The wide floats I decided not to use, you'll see why...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...000_0004-2.jpg

I decided to use these. The others, I will use on another project...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/u...000_0007-1.jpg

And the rest.

Big John, you sir are not messing around. :D When you get 'er going you'll have to take a break and rip a little Scania-Tanker-Truck solo with that Strat in the background. :p

Re: My new project...yes.

Looks like a really good idea. I just have ordered a tanker for the Scania R470 for it. Cant wait just thinking to replace the chrome for a silver grey colour like I have seen on petrol tankers in New Zealand, as the Scania is metallic blue.

glorydays24 05-15-2011 04:48 AM

Re: My new project...yes.

That sounds like you have a great idea on the colors.
Mine is going to be dark metallic stone grey on the truck body, with medium metallic red frames on truck and trailer...maybe the grey on the tool boxes and support legs:) I may even go with a b-train two tankers. Tankers are my favorite:D

sounds good, i enjoy the container trailer idea... just see them all day at work thats all. Maybe a later project as the model building is a distraction from work :)

Re: My new project...yes.

Yea I still might get the container trailer. I know some guy's aren't happy, but the more I look at it, I know I can americanize it:p:);)

Here is a few pic's of what i've got done. I decided to go with metallic black body and grabber green truck and trailer frames. And the tranny/motor had to be "CAT" yellow...of corrse.

Big John, great looking project. I'll be looking forward to seeing this as a completed project. I've been looking at the Scania for some time now, thinking I need one of these in my fleet too! Just one?

What was the source for the kit and accessories?

More pictures, please.

Awesome color choice John! Grabber green is one of those colors that looks good on anything.....seen it on 3/4 ton truck frames, engine blocks.....looks good no matter where it's applied!:D

LOL Paul, I can always depend on you to give me a chuckle...Thanx buddy.
The metallic black is fighting me. Some places are glossy, and some places are flat. I might change the color.

Thanx jjackso5, I really like the Scania. I also might get another and stretch the frame.
If you're asking where I got the truck and accessories, I got the truck from Tower Hobbies, and the goodies from Ric Murphy at Precision Models.
Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanx DieselKid. Funny you mentioned engine block, because the grabber green is actually for engines.
And you're right it looks good on anything.

That is a great looking color. The chassis looks nice all painted up. Looking forward to seeing the cab on there too.

Re: My new project...yes.

It's been a loooooooong time since I posted on this truck, but here it goes. I have changed the color on the truck 4 times and the colors stick this time.:):D;) I have been painting all week and finished up today, at least on the truck. And I decided to bite the bullet and put the Tamiya tri-axle reefer trailer instead of the tanker. And the trailer is going to have my own twist on it. Have a look at the truck as is.

Nice work on painting that chassis. It turned out really nice. Air brushed, or rattle cans? I can't even tell. If it's the later, it must be Tamiya paint!

Espeefan thank you for the compliment. And yes it is Tamiya paint rattle cans. Tamiya paints are more expensive than Testors, but the finish is a lot better. I remember reading a thread that the late FGD had and he said he used Tamiya paints, and I always liked the results. I gave it a try, and I am pleased.:bounce:

Thank you Wayne. The blue is Tamiya metallic blue. If you do get a Scania, you won't be disappointed.;) TS-19 is the color code.

I started adding LED's today and took some pic's as I went along. I think a few on the underside, and that should do it.
