1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
Hello everyone. This is the second of a few more to come of my Vintage builds .I am a huge fan of Old School as Fred(Plowjockey) will tell you because he is an old school junkie like me.I have liked the cabover transtar because my dad had one years ago and Izzy did a fantastic job on his transtar .I wanted one for my fleet ..but the older ones with the round head lights..not the early 80's with the round headlights in the square bezels..This build is going to be fun ..I did not scratchbuild the cab but some of the parts i will be making for it will be.I will post pics of the cab later tonight ...again check shapeways lucky7 is his id on there 😊😊😊😊

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
i will probably be using the kinghauler chassis for this build also as the wheelbase is perfect for this vintage truck as well as my Super Duty

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
Its funny that I stumble across this. Ive been wanting to build a Transtar II r/c truck, but without any resin exp and available kits i wasnt expecting to build one. Or even see one to be honest.
Where can i get this body and what all would I need to make a complete cab? |

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
Well after some thought i decided to do this truck custom ..not too crazy.i was going to do it up as a stock dealer truck but instead going with full out custom for this old school cab.i am going to build it using the grandhauler frame rails for that loooooooong stretched look.Far be it from me to stop building trucks i would have in my fleet if i could afford them all in real life..lol..so these pictures are a mockup of what i am going for this to look like .:)

Thats going to look sweet. Are you going to leave the sunvisor or shave it for a drop visor?

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
Well got the chassis all built ..just had to move the front axle forward to look in line with the wheel well and dry fitted the cab and marked off where the pipes will be drilled to be installed ..i will be drilling the holes for the cab accessories and drill and tap the floor mount .BTW i named this truck "SledgeHammer" i think it fits it and my wife picked out the colours today for it and i figured out the paint scheme for it ..installed a set of Steve Ingraham aluminum 10 hole bud wheels and the bumper will have lights .here is the truck so far

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
i took 2 pics of this truck ..one with a short aluminum fuel tank that is factory stock for this truck back in the day and i took a second pic with a longer tank ..i am thinking the longer tank .Barbara ,my wife thinks the shorter tank looks better because she says it shows more frame, what do you guys think?.the pipes will be tucked in like that and i will scratchbuild the air cleaner...stock or the snorkel type?

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
This is gonna be a great looking old school truck. Looks awesome strapped to that step deck too, very sweet step deck. I'm amazed at both the stuff that is available such as 3d printed cabs and realistic trailer kits and also just what people are building these days. When I started in this hobby just 6 years ago there were far less options. Good to see people are still building, even if people like me haven't been able to for a few years now.

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
here are the final updates on this build ..just a few more details to add then i consider this finished.shaped the cab visor so it looks more like the real thing ..my wife picked the colours for the truck and i decided on a scheme for it .also a friend of mine made me a spread axle cattle trailer body that i matched it with paint and added lots of details to it as well as the suspension and wheels.i scratchbuilt the stack bracket as well as the dual air cleaners and the aluminum catwalk.added the mfu and a headache rack i had purchased from a gent here on this forum some years ago..i never throw anything out or sell as i will find a use for it even if it is years from now...lol..anyway i will let the pics do the talking ,i appologize for this build taking a loooooong time ..work hours really get in the way sometimes.

Re: 1975 Cabover International Transtar 4070
with the 3d printed cab i had to make my own side windows and windshield .and i had to make my own floor mount and i had to relocate the front axle forward to go with the same lines of the cab
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...psurnjngbq.jpg had to make my own fender mounts for the trailer suspension which is air ride http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...psl8jnrjqu.jpghttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...pssl3subrc.jpghttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...psdup2dixz.jpghttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...psxehuwfah.jpghttp://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...pszrvsfi1n.jpg got a friend of mine local to me make me these awesome mirrors and brackets which in my opinion look more the time era rather than the tamiya ones |

Man that came out nice! Love the combo and the colors. The orange on the trailer really ties it to the tractor.
