Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT

Its been ordered! Now the wait begins, should be ready for delivery early Feb, I only ordered it 2 hours ago and the suspense is already killing me!

After inviting myself to a fellow RC constructions house and playing for the whole day I just had to get a 360 Excavator and Dumper. I’ve been exchanging a few emails with Frank a very nice German fella who is passionate about the models he designs and builds, who also happens to be the same person who designed and built the big Hitachi/Deere excavators.

I went for this one as it looks very sturdy, well built and engineered to last, look at the guy standing in the bucket, plus there are no others in the UK. Another bonus, its cheaper than the Wedico ( agreed it doesn’t come painted, where as the Wedico does ) and it’s not a lot more expensive than the Stahl Volvo version.

From looking at the photos below you’ll see it’s a kit and can be painted any colour I choose, I love the white version… decisions decisions…!

Here are a few photos to wet your and my appetite and a video as well!

Roll on February is all I can say…

Yep the ADT and 360 go hand in hand... the next purchase will be the 360... when the funds are available...

That's a pretty strong trailer although the tractor unit looked like it struggled a little on the bridge but then its hardly surprising... thanks for the link.

I think I recognized the Hitachi from another forum.

Still can't decide if its too big or not??

Yep, it looks like Ole's one, from what I understand its now sold to a fellow member of the club.

I'm torn between the Vario exc and Liehberr 944 demolition... I am worried that the Vario one will be too big and too heavy to cart about - I would love to see them side by side... to compare them.

What is needed is a beam trailer that way you can block it up and chain it down to any height you want, that is with in reason. Ed

Congrats! This looks like a really nice ADT! Is this a Vario product too? Wow. They aren't wasting any time with new models, are they? I sure could go for one of these! Maybe a wheel loader is next on the list. That would be really nice. Please do share some (a lot!) photos when your new model arrives!

Thanks, can't wait for it to arrive.. and there will be lots of photos..

This isn't a Vario product, its made by http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...www.fumotec.de who is the same person who designed and built the now Vario Excavator. It explains it on the website..

A wheel loader would be nice... and if made by Frank, would be strong as well.

Re: the start of the build

So where to start… axles seemed a good a choice as any..

All 3 axles assembled in no time at all, every thing fits together so nice, the tolerances are perfect, in fact sometimes I’m not so sure the two parts are meant to go together they are that tight…I still need to rip them back apart and solder the cables to the motors. The motors and gearbox slip up the inside of each axle and the drive spindle is supported by two huge fully sealed bearings, the axles even have O rings where they join together, this seals them completely keeping all the dust and water out
http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2169.jpg

The hub fitted to the axle
http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2167.jpg

http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2166.jpg

http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2165.jpg

If I had my way, I would work through the night and get it finished, but I don’t!

So that’s it for tonight, happy so far, every fits together perfectly.

A good pic of the wheel drive motor? What's the specs/manufacture on the box?

Is the tailgate standard with the kit or is that a seperate item on the order list?

I ask b/c the quick coupler & even the decal sheet didn't come with my hoe kit b/c I didn't specifically order it. I said I wanted the JD850, but no decal sheet come with it.

Is there any other options you ordered with the ADT kit that are seperate options?

Hi Joe,

Here's a picture of the box that the motor and gearbox came in, I will strip the axle tonight so you can see the motor... another good thing about this kit, only a few screws and its apart, so easy to service.

I feel your pain ref the extras, or what you think might be standard included parts. I think that's one downside of buying overseas and online. With regards to my build, the tailgate, wing mirrors and interior cab are extras. I only found this out, by looking at the photo of the parts on the website and then inquiring about them. I think it would be beneficial if the optional extras were listed.

Does it say anywhere the reduction or output rpm? Thanx for the pic.

The biggest pain with re-orders is the money/currency exchange. Atleast the last go around I was able to phone to make small payment with cc#. However, it's nice to get everything in one shot.

Hi Joe,

They are marked up as 100:1, but not RPM details. I temporarily connected one up to a 7.4volt battery and its pretty slow. Are you still looking for one for your dumper? If so, then I will do some more research.

Elliot

Re: Bell 50 ton Dumper - ADT

Another busy night…

Rear suspension bolted up and ready to accept the axles… the holes in the chassis are a little tight, I think this is due to them being laser cut rather than drilled, but easily overcome, just run a 10mm or 6mm drill bit through it or whatever size the hole is meant to be. Job done…

Onto some pictures
http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2196.jpg
http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/IMG_2195.jpg

Bolted the articulated swivel joint on, again another oversized very well engineered part, the fit of the pieces is so good. I know anyone with an ounce of machining knowledge could do it, but I’m still amazed at the tight tolerances!

The axles still needed wiring, but thought what the heck, lets bolt them on…
