2 x slotcar motors (tamiya motors are 3.5 volts and fry quickly)
Saber tooth motor controller
5 volt 5 amp (continuous) bec
Hitec Digital HS-7955 TG lift servo
2 x Align Digital DS410M servos for bucket curl

Thank you very much. I really enjoy the engineering challenge of getting strength & power out of these little machines.

I improved the bucket curl mounts. The mounts on the prototype loader work fine but, they don't like nice.

This design has more rigidity and protects the servos from getting hit:

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...d.jpg~original

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...2.jpg~original

With the servo screw heads milled down it allows the two servos (sitting back to back) to fit nicely in the lift assembly and creates a rigid assembly.

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...w.jpg~original

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...2.jpg~original

I also made beefier aluminum drive hubs. I'll post up pics later when I get the 4-40 screws that I ordered for them.

quoted for INFO below here, NOT for images
Since I had to order more parts, I have a more accurate list:

Radio system
Tamiya twin motor gearbox
shims for tamiya gearbox assembly (you loose about 10 to 20% of gear contact on some of them if you leave them sloppy)
silicone to seal gearbox up (makes it last a very long time)
2 x slotcar motors (tamiya motors are 3.5 volts and fry quickly)
Aluminum stock to make drive hubs
4-40 screws & washers to secure gearbox to chassis
Saber tooth motor controller
5 volt 5 amp (continuous) bec
Hitec Digital HS-7955 TG lift servo
2 x hitec hs-5065mg digital servos for bucket curl
Hitec servo programmer
3" Y harness to join the 2 bucket curl servos
2 x 12" male servo leads to extend the bucket curl servos
heat shrink for all of the bucket curl servo wiring
piece of bicycle inner tube for lift lever cover (need to post pics)
4-40 rod and clevis for lift lever
lead weight
and 1 boat load of patience

Just make the hub larger where the screws are so that you can make the 4-40 screws tight without worrying about striping out the aluminum threads. I also put flat spots on the axle where the screws hit.

Step 1:
Cut out the back area for the the boom lift servo:

http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/...8.jpg~original

http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/...5.jpg~original

Step 2:
Make the bucket curl automation, this proved to be extremely difficult because of the various pivot points and size constraint. It was very hard to get a position where the bucket would curl all the way down and up:

I attached the drive wheels by use of a aluminum hub, I first filled the wheel with JB Weld so I had a way of mounting the hub.

From there I made the sprockets using zip ties-this method has been documented and used on several other conversions online (credit to smallhaul for this).

Well after a bit of though and a look through the stock box som stainless steel bar was found and some mount printed to attach it under the trailer bed to provide attachment points. These are definitely a work in progress as i intend to revise and fit let side makers to them for MK2

I had last week off from work for a staycation, so I had some time to work on this finally. It is about 90% done now, needs a couple touch ups and some paint. Here is what I have done now:

I modified the transmitter and took out the spring mechanism on the one stick.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...7.jpg~original

I modified the bucket curl servo to get more travel. It runs about 160 degrees now. I soldered in two 2.2k resistors, one on each side of the potentiometer. I also moved the wire to the side of the case.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...2.jpg~original
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...3.jpg~original

Video of servo travel. You can see where I marked the cardboard stock and the new travel.
https://youtu.be/ZPzTH3JKpzY

I was able to keep the engine cover by mounting the servo low, and cutting it out for the servo arm and linkage.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...4.jpg~original

I mounted the lift arm servo to the model with 1/4" aluminum blocks, they are drilled and tapped to mount to the servo, and on the side to mount to the model.

The bucket servo is mounted with SteinHDan's 3d printed mount I ordered from ShapeWays. I modified a small servo arm to fit on the bucket mount, then drill and tapped the arm for a 4-40 screw. I drilled the pivot point for the bucket so I could screw an m3 screw into the servo gear.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...9.jpg~original
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...0.jpg~original
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...5.jpg~original

I mounted the receiver under the cab and had to cut out a bit of the seat to get it to fit.

The BEC is mounted behind the cab in the main compartment above the motors.

I had a hard time finding a battery that would fit because I mounted the servo pretty low. I ended up with 2 x 450mah 2-cell li-po batteries, wired in parrallel.

http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...4.jpg~original

How it sits now, almost done.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...3.jpg~original

Video of it running:
https://youtu.be/Ye79_dS8ZME

It seems to be very stable, I don't think I will have to worry bout it tipping.

I may try to get a little bit more travel out of the lift servo, I feel like it is not lifting all the way up.

Thanks for looking.
-Kyle

I am using Pololu 99:1 geared motor as my drives and at 7.2v it should produce about 200 oz/in torque per motor.
First I made an axle to connect the motor to the drive wheel and hub.

I want to test it first and perhaps add some different grousers. I need to make the orange flashers and clean up some wiring and painting/weathering and it will be fully done. In the meantime here are some almost finished photos.
