Re: new tamiya release this year
Now someone needs to build a gantry crane to move the containers.
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
Ok sing me up..
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
I like that!
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
i wondered how long.. when the refer came out i thought what it would look like as a container trailer..
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
I like the trailer but I would need some donor axles for the back two to make them dual tires and leave the front as a tag with super singles and as for the name on it that is funny we have one of those containers for storage behind our shop with the exact same name on it.:D

Re: new tamiya release this year
Nice! I'll probably buy one. Lol
|
Re: New Tamiya Trailer
nice! any specs available yet?
|
Re: New Tamiya Trailer
I like it!
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
Now this is pretty looks like they actually put proper handles on the rear doors I'd buy one but I would change the wheels from super singles to duals and wonder whet the Bruder containers would look like on it

Re: new tamiya release this year
O' thats kool! some nice parts on there too
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
Nice trailer - wonder what the perspective is sitting next to their current dry van. Guess this will add to the equipment as people build the trailer lifts.
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
That's awesome! Maersk is one of the more common names you'd see, worldwide. The container ribs look great.
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
That Maersk will look great next to my Hapag-Lloyd Trailer

Re: new tamiya release this year
Cool maybe a crane wouldn't't be so hard .......
I want one two :) |

Looks like the same old cheesy door handles like on the van box trailer... |
Re: new tamiya release this year
I wonder if they'll sell the container separately?
I like the locking devices for the container corners... and the trailer looks like it'll take 2 - 20 foot containers. 20 foot containers in the future? The Bruder containers are OK, but they are small for their size, and have those weird legs on the bottom/sides. But they DO have correct door latches and hinges! |
Re: new tamiya release this year
Sweet, i want!

Re: new tamiya release this year
Nice looking trailer, they did very well on the setup of the container the ribs are very good looking and I would love to see some 20 footers come out. Now all of you with the yard trucks will have something to pull around..
p.s. are those turn style locks that hold the container on or are they the same mounts they used on the high lifts for the beds. Where they would have a body pin slide into it?? --Dan |
Re: new tamiya release this year
I'm thinking a container forklift or container telahandler would be cooler then the big old gantry crane. A gantry crane would be really neat, but it would be huge! And not really necessary, as gantry cranes transfer the containers from ship to trailer, or train.

Re: new tamiya release this year
The Santa Fe painted this GP60M for Maersk, strictly for advertising photos. The photos were taken and the locomotive went back to Santa Fe and was repainted their red and silver warbonnet scheme,it never pulled one load in regular revenue service.

Re: new tamiya release this year
How about a MiJack such as the one that I used to unload empty can under in Omaha.
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...es/966-004.jpg And since we are talking about Maersk, here is one I had. I pulled these containers out of the BN yard in Omaha, NE and hauled them up to Beresford, SD to a regional furniture company's warehouse. Paul, and the rest of you in the MN, SD, ND, IA states know that company as Slumberland Furniture. http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...es/966-003.jpg -Mike |
Re: new tamiya release this year
Trailer and container look nice but why does Tamiya always make things for Europe? I see many more 48' to 53' containers now than ever before. Singles on trailer are just not what I see everyday.

Personally, this "new release" does zip zero for me. Tamiya added a couple new parts to the reefer chassis, added a Seacan to it, and marketed it. It's still based on a Euro chassis, which has no appeal to me. Hoping that the Maersk decals will generate world wide interest and appeal in this new release is almost embarrassing. Guess it doesn't really matter. A certain someone has probably already got dibs on the first dozen that will hit the states anyways, and he will be parting them out. Going back to my lonely , dark corner of the sandbox now.......... |
Re: new tamiya release this year
The R/C truck market in the USA is not nearly as big as the european market...
Just look at all of the fantastic shows put on in europe vs. what we have here in the States. |
Re: new tamiya release this year
The ribs on the trailer is what makes me want one:cool:, not a huge fan of the singles or the rest of the setup though

Gotta follow the money i guess. |
Re: new tamiya release this year
Would be nice if Tamiya offered it in both US and Europe versions or if the kit could be built either way.
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
I am sure we'll find out soon if the parts can be ordered separately to just get the box...;)
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
it looks good for us down here as there are all kinds of trailers skels in use.
the chassis looks good by itself with working twistlocks. would be easy to change to u.s. specs, take out the triaxle and mount the normal dual suspension at the very rear and leave of the tire rack and side guards. |
Re: new tamiya release this year
Ooh, that's gonna be cool...with lots of possibilities for custom work to be done in order to tweak the setup to more of an "American" spec.
And is anybody else seeing the potential that those single hump fenders on the chassis are gonna have?:D They look wide enough to fit over a set of standard duals. Looking forward to more updates, -Alex |
Re: new tamiya release this year
Hi all, here is the official release video of the container trailer, as for the locks on the rear doors it doesn't look like it would be that much work to get it to look 1:1, but that again why can't Tamiya do properly job on a kit instead for once instead of half assing it all the time.......

Re: new tamiya release this year
If we had these kinds of ads running in the USA - I would bet their market would be healthier ......
Cossett - thanks for sharing - with out you I would never had known it was made ......... |

Re: new tamiya release this year
$740 is full list price on TAMIYA so it should be around $460 from a dealer or at least that is what my LHS said it should go for but when it is released we will see what it is, and with my discount at the LHS I may just end up with one.

Re: new tamiya release this year
and for the rest of us who don't have a friend in the biz like "00" Biddle - were paying 10% over std stock price......LOL
|
Re: new tamiya release this year
