The Bruder was my first attempt at an RC conversion.
Now I'm going to try to mod this dump truck. Origionally i thought it was a 1960 vintage Tonka but it is actually a Chinese replica of a 1949 Tonka toy. Again I will try to follow in Small hauls footsteps Attachment 534 |

Re: TheMachinist
Good job! Looks like your skid steer is working nice.
That dump truck you are converting looks nice and heavy. It will be a fun build to watch. |

Got the front axle built today and I'll form the leaf springs tommorow. Now if I could only remember to bring my camera to the shop and then figure out how to attach photos via photobucket into this thread I'd be happy.
Attachment 542 Attachment 543 Attachment 544 I also got all the motors and ESC for the Moxy today. |
Re: TheMachinist
Coming along nicely Jordy.
What icon do you use to attach pictures? I use the 'square' icon that looks like a landscape. |

Re: TheMachinist
Just a couple of photos of me at work. I'm running "The Beasty" my 1963 Union boringmill, with a Feller buncher head mounted on the table having it's Rotec bearing mount surfaced. Sorry for the fuzzy photos but I was using my cell phone.

Re: TheMachinist
Nice, works smoothly and has good power.
|
Re: TheMachinist
I'm amazed at the torque of these small servos. Nice idea you had with the arm and roller. I can see all kinds of uses for this application now.
Rob |
Re: TheMachinist
The servo is from rc4wd and is rated at 200oz at 6 volts. I'm running the same one for the drive and it has to grunt to move a full load. I might have to regear the output to get more power.
The scale weighs in pounds so 4 1/4lbs is quite a load for the truck. |
Re: TheMachinist
That setup is real similar to the roller hoist's that I've seen on old bobtail dump's.
Great job on this one! Where did you buy the truck? I may have to buy a few of them. Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug. |
Re: TheMachinist
I got the truck from a co-worker who had it in his office. I found ones just like it on ebay.

Re: TheMachinist
Great idea and works well. Looking forward to seeing it out in the mud..

This little guy is going to be fussy as to the terrain it runs on, with smooth tires and no suspension it will have to spend it's service life on hard sufaces. Hopefully it'll be done this monday and I can dedicate more time to the ADT. |
Re: TheMachinist
I LOVE the idea you have for the dump mechanism!
