Welcome Kalle , Wow I didn't know you got the Bell , then again I haven't been on scale lately .
|
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Welcome Kalle, I've been following your thread over on scale 4x4 for a while now. Glad you could join us here. I like the construction of your excavator. The final drives give me some ideas for a small build I'm planning soon.

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Hello Kalle, good to see you here & have your fine workmanship displayed here on this forum as well.
It's great to view your new undercarriage and see 1st hand the proper speed of these new planetary gh motors we special bought. Thanx for sharing. And I like your new wide link tracks... I've got a few ideas to work at this winter to improve the narrower track link that I have to correct the issue of skipping off a track while turning. ;) Sometime October maybe I'll tear down my 850 to install my upgrade parts as well... I'm pretty sure my machine shop guy is too busy with harvest repair jobs to fit in my toy repair job into the mix atm. |

Yes the new track motors with the gearing we choose seems to be perfect, im really happy with it right now. The new wide tracks and sprocket seemed to cure the problem with the tracks coming off, that happend quite often before, hope you can fix yours, otherwise just go with the new tracks, you wont be dissapointed! :) Ohh so there is a solution for the swing problem in the works? It would be awesome to get rid off that jerky swing on slopes and such. I actually tought it was the motor that was going to fast for its own speed and cusing it to jerk when going downhill on a slope. How would this be done, a motor sitting on top with the shaft directly to the axle for the swing gear in the undercarrige? Like this? http://www.modell-baustelle.de/index...d82fdd7e91d5ec http://www.modell-baustelle.de/index...b5876a862d566a Or like this standing up? http://www.abload.de/img/p280709_21.52crxx.jpg Im very intrested in this Joe, hit me up with a PM when you have more info pls! :) |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Yes i think so, hopefull i can keep them for a good while! :) A little update, not much but something! :) I tought about the bucket today thinking it always looked so old school and boring so i wanted to make it look more like a new style bucket, it was also hard to pick up rocks and get them in the bucket, i think this will help. I took some measurements and cut out a bit on the bucket, turned out really good i think, much better then before, should be able to carry about as much mass as before anyway. Before. Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
A simple alteration for better function.
I see your teeth are looking a bit dull, digging too much rock! :D How are the pins fixed in place on your Vario bucket? Epoxy? The ripper tooth works xllnt! Thanx buddy. :) |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Quote:
I fixed my pins with LockTight 638 ("Cylindrical fixing", spelling?) seem to work fine so far. Glad the ripper is a good helping hand for you down there, that clay look sticky! Will watch your new vid later today! Now back to work. :D Keep it up Joe! |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Best looking 470 yet, the detail youve added is outstanding

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
My teeth are still relatively sharp after digging in this wet clay, but I'm sure that'll change quickly when I start digging in the hard dry clay this winter. Replaceable hardened teeth is an awesome idea Steve, I think you just got yourself some new work. :D
Great video Kalle, looks like you're still enjoying some warm sunny Fall weather like I am. :) The new shape of the bucket looks good & seems to be helping with scooping rock. Has there been any issue at all any more with skipping a track with your new style tracks & wheels? I sure like the speed your hoe travels now. I hope to do my upgrade soon. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Yes i like the new shape of the bucket, looks better and works better overall. I havent had one single issue yet with the tracks, they have worked flawless this far, make sure to really locktite all the grub screws on the bevel gears and sprockets, some of my screws had come loose due to too little locktite used. Other then that its perfect, you will be happy! :) I have slowed the tracks down even a little more, now it feels good, also slowed the pump down a bit on my mixers, as well as the swing. |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Well i finally got my parts back, this color is much better and now im happy with it! :nice:
I painted the bed with red primer and started to mount it up, some work on the cab is still needed before paint of those parts. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151327.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151334.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151343.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151454.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151503.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151511.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...0-15151525.jpg |

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looking mighty fine Kalle.
Is there snowflakes where you are yet, can't be far off eh? You gonna scratch any paint before they're parked for the winter? :D |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

I have already tested it outside, it works great, i guess i have to wait until next spring before i can run it again though. Quote:
No flakes yet, in the north of sweden they already got some but its still around 5-10 celcius during the afternoons, but they are not far away! I think i will concentrate on getting it done now instead of rush it together just to go out to run it in snow by then! :) I will take my time over the winter instead and get it right the first time! :) |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
That's quite a full house of goodies in the cab, not alot of room left for the batt, will it be 3s or 4s for a battery? Can you get them in a square or a pyramid shape?
I'm hoping to get a 4206 from Frank someday soon. Do you think there's room enough for 3 valves? |

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Well the dumper is almost done, a few small fixes to do, interior needs to be cut, find someone that can cut the decals for me and some other things.
My friend showed me how to use a real paint gun, the paint turned out pretty good, a little dust was there to mess it up a little but its much better then a rattle can spray, a good learning as well, will probably pick one up myself. Here is where its at right now... http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19215126.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19215136.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19215146.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19215157.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19215210.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19214818.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-19214807.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...9-21-46-59.jpg |

I also started on the interior yesterday, still a few things to fix on it but looks better now then only a total black interior with no seat. The seat is a little high but i dont wanna lower the seat becuse i need room under it for battery. Elliot: What kind of interior parts did you recive from Frank? I only got the main interior base. Did notice that the exhaust box behind the cab was painted in 2 tone colors, so i have to take it apart again and paint the right side yellow! http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-21214329.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-21214352.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-21214526.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-21214536.jpg |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Looking quite snazzy Kalle.
I can't tell the different shades of gray on the exhaust box, but the detail on the exhaust pipe is stunning! Did you just burn it with a lighter? As good as it looks now, it'll look much better when the paint is scarred up and oil stains & grime all all over. :D |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Quote:
Maybe i mislead you on the 2 tone, i maybe should have said 2 different colors, the exhaust part is grey as it is now on the left side, but on the right side where the wents are it should be yellow to be 100% right, and im kinda picky about such things. :) Yes youre right, i just used a lighter to get the exhaust to look a little used, simple and effective! Yes, i will spill some extra hyd. oil over it before going in the dirt to really make it stick! :D |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
You've done a fantastic job on that... I'm loving the soot around the exhaust as well.
Ref the interior, I got the same as you, but with a steering wheel as well. Talking of detail, how did you make the rear screen rock guard? |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Quote:
About the rock guard, i got it from Frank, i think its an optional scale detail. Ok, i think i go a steering wheel as well, but it looks more like a tool for something, why not just a round shape axle? And the wheel looks kinda small. This is what mine looks like... http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...2-23090449.jpg |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
yes that's the same as mine... to be honest now you mention it it does look small and the axle is rather over engineered.
I will drop Frank an email and see if I can get a rock guard as well.. Did you sort the CTI modules out...? |
Re: Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D
Quote:
I havent got time to sort the CTI module out yet, with christmas coming up there will be some time with family, but maybe tomorrw if im free in the evening i will try it out! |
