Re: Power leveler (harley rake)
Any photos of the Steiger? Did you do it the same as the Ford? I know they are basically the same tractor with different engines but I love the Steiger soooo much more!

Re: Power leveler (harley rake)
Thanks Guys!
Yea Brian,it puts me back 5 yrs in time when I run this thing. Steve, funny you should mention a rock hound, that was what I was going to make first. Now it looks like it will be second.:D Spudd,I'm on #5 wheel kit so far.Everytime I make one,it winds up in the scrap pile,& I start over. Just can't seem to get it the way I want. But # 6 will be the keeper! Cossett, she might be little,But it works as good as the $10,000 dollor units I used in the 1:1 side of things. Ok Claus! Here's the build thread.:D This is my version of the Steiger changing into something usefull. First the toy! http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics453.jpg Down to the bones. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics456.jpg First butch in the diffs. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics458.jpg Now this one is getting Lead, every where I can hide it. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics460.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics462.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics463.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics464.jpg This one gets a little different drive line. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics466.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics467.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics469.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics472.jpg More lead! http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics470.jpg Now the electical part. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics473.jpg On it's way back. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics476.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics477.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics479.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics478.jpg Well the only thing left,is the engine, tires & wheels & paint. Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
With all farming equipment your doing are we going to see a new transporter built to move it around your different sites ?????
Cheers Tracy |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Sweet!! Love it Fred.
|
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Nice work on both pieces of equipment, Fred. You did a nice job stuffing the inards of the Steiger. The power leveler seems to work really well. So how heavy do you suppose your Steiger is now? And what kind of battery pack are you running on it?
|
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Why the change of drivetrain? Is one better than the other or is it more about your tractor's personal space?
|
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Is there anything that grinds up the dirt other than the hex bar.
Tractor conversion looks good also. What size is it and where can one be purchased? Ken |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Here you go Ken, your choice of duals or singles.
http://www.outbacktoystore.com/1-16t...4WD-with-Duals http://www.outbacktoystore.com/1-16t...h-Wide-Singles Fred I have two Steigers myself, would love to see one of them converted someday. I have been wondering about a set of Stainless Chem Farm fertilizer tanks mounted to the front to mount the batteries leaving more room in the tractor for maybe a 3 speed. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...D%2025/008.jpg |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
I got mine cheaper on the bay.....
|
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Claus;
Thank you for the information. Ken |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Fred, kind of curious how you bolt the axles up. I can't see any sign of how you do it. I can only guess you have an angle bracket that screws to the side of the die-cast model, and then the axles bolt to the bottom channel? That's how I'd do it, anyway.

Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
That's great work, but I don't know why you want to move a little dirt at a time insted of buying my dozer and srcaper and doing it right. I'll make you a good deal.

Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Nate I would say Freddy just drilled new holes where he needed them. The black Tamiya plastic (I think it is ABS) holds threads really well. I hope this helps.

Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Thanks Guys!
Claus,I like to try different drive configurations, till I find the keeper. Espeefan,My flippin scale is boxed up somewhere,& don't have a way to weigh er now. I will tell you it's a lot heavier than when I first took er out of the box. Travis Thanks! Joe! This is perfect with you owning the dozer. You can do the rough grade,& I'll do the finish grade. Plus gives us a good reason to get together, get some gradin done,Then have acouple of pops to celebrate a job well done!:D Ken,there is a little more inside the preseeder, but for some reason my camera didn't want to work right for that part of the build.;) Well.....It only took 6 shots at the wheel kit:o Till I could post it up for you boys to see. Here's what I came up with. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics512.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics511.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics508.jpg Then of course, the vid! http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics509.jpg Can't wait to see how this baby works now! Hopefully, the ground will be dry enough to but er to work today. Wanted to giv'er a shot yesterday, but it's been rainin for the last couple of days,& it's all mud. But! Today, sunny & hot!:D Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Freddy the rear wheel setup looks pretty good on there. I can't wait to see what she does now that you can change the grade. Next you need to install a plow on the front of her so you can start plowing snow this winter.
~Tyler~ |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Wow, that power leveler looks fantastic, with the addition of the rear lift wheels. Even if you work with the more basic tools, you still manage to crank out some incredible looking, and functional models.

Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Thanks guys!
Ok Joe! This is why I don't need a dozer anymore havin this baby. Now this vid shows just how good this baby works! :D http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_MVI_4781.jpg Pretty slick huh? My arm is killin me from patten myself on the back for this one!:D:D Here's another vid, made a few while I was at it.So might as well share them w/you'all http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_MVI_4777.jpg Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Power leveler,& Steiger build
Freddy looks like the tractor is doing great. It's amazing how well that power leveler works even on the larger dirt.
