Re: Super short Benz.
So Fred are you going for the first supercharged electric RC truck?
Brian |
Re: Super short Benz.
Hmm this looks interesting, now to me if your saying this will make your wife happy, it seems like someone has thought of an ingenious way to run one's rc rig indoors and vacuum the floors at the same time:D
Mike |
Re: Super short Benz.
That is really cool Freddy, keep us posted;)
Big John |
Re: Super short Benz.
come now , you don't know Freddy ? :p
|
Re: Super short Benz.
Could it be an R/C fan-truck to keep the lady of the house cool on those hot, dry, summer days in.....yeah, didn't FGD recently move to AZ? My girlfriends lil bro is over in Scottsdale for a few months, from what I hear it gets pretty hot over there!!
Regardless, those Old Golds seem to get through these projects! |
Re: Super short Benz.
Wow Fred, You made a mobile hair dryer station for your wife!! She should love it LOL..
|
Re: Super short Benz.
Street, I mean, carpet sweeper/vacuum truck?
|
Re: Super short Benz.
Well Good job Crawler! Your not even close. But on heck of a good try!:D
Now Mike & Nathan nailed it! Now I don't know about the carpet thing yet,but you never know. Brian, kinda like your stabb at it,just might have to put that on my favorite's list. Maybe use a small weed wacker engine. HMMM. Swagger, those smokes are just like me,old & gold! Thanks guys for the complements! Well made some progress, not much but some.:o First need something to pull the dirt off of the street. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics992.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics993.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics991.jpg Man this thing looks stupid at the back end.Sure hope the hopper makes it look better. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics994.jpg Now mount this killer vacuum. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics997.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics996.jpg Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!

|
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
Crawler,I've heard that before.:D
Made the manifold for the suction hose's to hook to. Have to slow the cfm down a bit before it gets to the hopper. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...uckPics999.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1003.jpg Now the exhaust for the blower. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1000.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1001.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1002.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1012.jpg & the hopper. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1004.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1006.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1008.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1009.jpg Thanks for lookin! Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
Holy crap! A street sweeper, now that is clever and original. You really do come up with some great ideas for projects, well done. I guess it goes without saying by now that is going to turn out extremely well.
|
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
Cool project Fred!
|
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
Thanks Guys!

FGD |
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!

|
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!

Looks cool so far! Brian |
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!

|
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
Thanks Guys!
Brian,it better! Scott,I thought you were a farmer type? & you don't pick the daily new rc parts orchard?? Dude! Your missin the boat! Every day people all over are setting a harvest of hard to get rc parts out by the road for you. All's you gotta do is have the onions to beat the garbage men to the harvest!;) Now don't be Ascard,it's worth it!:D So since I've started this build,it's been buggin me how in the world am I going to seal the hopper to truck. Guess I don't need to worry about that. This is with no seal at all! http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1024.jpg My Grandma's 1952 hoover top-o-the-line,doesn't stand a chance against this baby!:D http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1023.jpg Now ain't that just beautiful?:D Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Super short Benz.Soon to be street sweeper! I hope!
OK I'll clean the floors now :D:D:p
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
wow that worked much better then I expected it to. I see a need for another one to keep up with dirty roads at the shows.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Dang what a piece of art Fred. Looks good but works so much better than I had thought it would. Now can't wait to see it get painted up and all the body work done.
Tyler |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
That is sweet Fred. You need to bring that down to the ECMT show and suck up all of the rubber from the roads!:D:D
Brian |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
It makes me giggle with the ideas & quick outcomes you come up with Freddy, you are a talented fellow and an original thinker at that.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
That's awesome! Good to see you are still on a roll. I think the Steiger loader, with the power broom you made, needs an angle attachment, so it can brush the debris into a windrow, for this street sweeper to follow behind and collect.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Nice work Freddy, Looks like it works pretty good.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Only you would come up with someonthing like this... A lil weird, but very unique non the less
Kudos ! Alfy |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
This is a perfect way to win points with the Mrs. plus run trucks....This little street (linolium) cleaner would be awful handy and might be in high demand.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
where is sweeper brushes on this? Currently u have built a rc vacuum.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Freddy it works and looks amazing!!
Man, my arm hurts from patting myself on the back. I bet your glad called me the morning you were working on this baby!!:D:D |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
WOW,Thanks Guys!
Joe,that's quit the complement,Thanks! Scott,I wanted to make sure this idea was going to work before I started hangin the most complex part of the build on the truck. Plus I'm still on the hunt for the perfect brushes. The mechanical part is already figured out, just need the brushes so I can figure out where to mount it. Espeefan, the broom on the backwards tractor is on an angle to the left. Would of made it power angle, but didn't want to stuff the cab for it. Well, the only thing left is the brooms & paint.Man this sucks! Now I've got to send this out to be painted,or set back up my booth. There's no way I can spray this thing in the garage this time of the year. Well, here's the progress. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1025.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1031.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1032.jpg Hopper dump test. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1036.jpg The vacuum unit is 14.4 volt,so this is what I came up with for turning it off & on. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1030.jpg All this room,& the battery for the truck is gotta go in the cab. Kinda was hope'in this wouldn't get into lookin like something nasa built. But once again it's gettin tight. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1033.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1029.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1034.jpg Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Nice and full in there, just as it should! that is a good idea for the switch. What is the spring on the switch for Fred? Keep up the good work.
Brian |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
wow.impressive for a old guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that thing rocks!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
FGD, I just might have the round gutter style brush ur are hunting for. I will pm u a pic when I return back home to start my street sweeper. The vacuum was stopping from building one, until I saw what u used.
|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Thanks Guys!
Yea Scott, that's the last hold up on this baby. Thanks! Well got a little done, made the top to cover the vacuum compartment. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1041.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1040.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1063.jpg Then the rear bumper & tail lights. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1058.jpg The back needed something to break up the the big flat spot on the hopper. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1059.jpg Then a panel to fill in the void on the top. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ckPics1060.jpg Well this is as far as I can go till I find some brushes. The other night I swept half the house with her,& she worked like a champ. I've built a few trucks since in this hobby,& never had one that can maneuver like this little thing. This thing will turn 180 in a small hallway like nothin. Will post progress as soon as my broom hunt is over. Thanks for lookin! FGD |
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!

|
Re: Benz street sweeper. First test vids!
Dang Freddy that little guy is looking much better with the top on the hopper. Also keeping an eye out for brushes for ya if only I knew the sizes. :)
Tyler |
