PFB Construction Site
Gonna be a fuuuuuun winter! :D
Filthy non-used basement room = sandbox for grown-up toys!! http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6111/6...897e00d6_b.jpg Work tables setup (Bruder Dozer and Ertl 200D) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6...d6b039cc_b.jpg Paver base sand, pebbles, and top soil. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7156/6...1ab54902_b.jpg That's 20 bags of dirt......gonna need more! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7143/6...d99e0861_b.jpg Only concern is possible critter infestation with the dirt. Gonna have to find a good treatment that won't do any harm to myself. Open to suggestions. Hand loaded and dumped all this crap.......I'm tired! |

I can't believe you bought dirt Nate. At the very least, mix it all together so you got a task to seperate it again. |
Re: PFB Construction Site

Definitely plan on running some kind of conveyor system to separate dirt/gravel. |
Re: PFB Construction Site
awsome - indoor fun room
|
Re: PFB Construction Site
Looks like a fine place for a construction vehicle only meet.:D A few dozers, a couple excavators, a few elevators, some dump trucks and you have the makings of a very fun day:eek::D Don't forget a bridge for dumping!
|
Re: PFB Construction Site
Now this is kool!
Since your gunna make a conveyor, could of had a 10yrd load dumped by one of those outside windows,& spent 3 months gitting it in the basement. Just think of all the camera time there. You could tie up with Joe,do some fancy editing & made it look like Joe's bringing it out & your bringing it in.:D Looks good! Can't wait to see it done! FGD Just out of curiousity, has that room ever had deep water problems?? |
Re: PFB Construction Site
In the two years I've been living here and the previous owner's 12, there's been no floods. The walls do seep a bit seeing as the house is over 100 years old but nothing major. That's actually why I laid the sand down in the corner with the most moisture.
I'll definitely have you guys over sometime Lynn! I wanted dirt to play immediately but the window does happen to go to my outside dig area directly......hmmmm |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Yea Man! I can see a nice ramp going across that back wall right out the window. Now you need a nice big crane to construct the bridge (ramp).
This has all kinds of potential to become the never ending story. FGD |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Travis and Izzy came over this weekend to help initiate the site. Good fun moving dirt around and getting dirt on the toys.

I snapped some pic this weekend and I got a couple pics of my dump truck and loader next to the Vario excavator so you can get an idea of just how big it is.

|
Re: PFB Construction Site
Good showing boys.
Did you get it all mixed up well? :D A trommel or a shaker pan next on the build list? |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Yeah I definitely plan to do some kind of sorting. Gotta have a job to do since my basement is already dug out ;)
|
Re: PFB Construction Site
Wow fantastic! RC trucking and construction indoors in the warm, you're onto a winner there!
|
Re: PFB Construction Site
Got started on the fabbing up the Trommel I'm building the other day. Not much to show just yet, got the frame built though. A package arrived today with some new goodies for the site!
RC conversion parts on the way. Couldn't resist building it up stock to play! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/6...85fbeaf9_b.jpg Kaeser Compressor (my shed only uses fancy-pants air) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7191/6...871e62d3_b.jpg 966 is getting heavy use lately! Upgraded drive-shafts are holding up well and the pump coupler is still in one piece thanks to LilGiants Joe! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7051/6...021b17da_b.jpg Plan to make a CAT Generator for the site and some work lights so I can make a night video! (This will require wiring up the lights on the 966.....ugh) [img] |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Just realized how far off the scale is on that compressor.....oh well ITS OVERKILL for the shop!

Re: PFB Construction Site
The sand master looks like it would fun! They didn't have stuff like that when I was growing up. At least not that I ever knew of. Are you going to build a larger funnel/trough on the inlet side of the conveyer? Looks like you might be needing it.
|
Re: PFB Construction Site
It's a really nice way to conserve soil which is a big deal these days. Wish i had the room in my basement to build a Tank killing field.
Ofcourse it would have land mines that we now have and hiidden tank traps. All more fun. Maybe even ortar and artillery pits. |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Looking good Nate! It'll be interesting to see how you set up your screening plant?
How did your machining class go for you last month, or is it once a week for a few months? |
Re: PFB Construction Site
Yep once a week for the spring semester. Going really well, I'm also taking a Solidworks class and will continue to take the intermediate of both class levels.

Re: PFB Construction Site
Building a worklight!

Re: PFB Construction Site
Looking good so far are you going to make multiple lights or just the one? Also you gotta love the compressor, that's same style we run at out shop. It's super quiet efficient etc etc, but I just don't know if I could justify 10k on one myself

Re: PFB Construction Site
I bought one new in 2001 and it is still running good. The best part is the dryer and the constant volume
