I had started this a while ago and well frankly I could use some thoughts....so I won't bore you with the chassis build pics but here goes....

standard rear of the king hauler....

my conversion - picked up the center plate on a trade
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0420.jpg

picked up these pete styled fenders from S&P here on the board.... alittle sanding and trimming and their looking real good...
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0422.jpg

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0423.jpg

Choping the cab fenders off....

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0424.jpg

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0425.jpg

had to do a test fit of the cab -
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0426.jpg

here's where I have the cab now .... moved the front axel forward and lowered the cab a bit....

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...e/IMG_0438.jpg

Awsome truck Izzy ! I like the fenders

Re: Day Cab Work Truck by Izzy

Great start! The fenders are really nice. We never see many photos of them, in a raw state, or slightly cleaned up and sanded. It's the best way to make a King Hauler a Peterbilt. Looking forward to this project!

Re: Day Cab Work Truck by Izzy

as always , nice work Izzy

I noticed here a problem
on the suspension photo from our UK trucker Brel

Brel , do I see this correct and you use a solid drive-shaft ( no length-adjustment ) instead of the original dog-bone for your rear axles ?

You can not do that , you gone put your suspension in a bind .
If you want to do this you need to replace the lower control-arms from at least one axle
and replace them with something what has a variable length , like a shock

check out this link here ,
http://www.customrcmodels.com/Trucks/new_6wd_project.htm
it shows one of my 6WD builds
and pay close attention to the photos how I did the rear-axle suspension

Looks great so far Chris! Any idea on color?

Re: Day Cab Work Truck by Izzy

Willy, I believe that is a rc4wd shaft in-between the axles and it has a slip yoke in it. Don't quote me on that, but it looks just like the one I looked at yesterday on the rc4wd website and it says it can be used for the semis:D

Now that is interesting .. I just looked at that too …
Guess you are right , that could be it , since by the dimensions they list there it should fit/work .
Good find ! Must be a new item …guess I need to get me a set and check it out .
I am wondering how it’s done , if it can fall apart when you excide these 50mm length ?

What irritates me on the UK-trucker photo is that the u-joints are lined up so strange ,
not even , not 90 degrees offset , just a few degrees offset

You are correct they (yolk's) need to be lined up or a vibration problem will result, I'm guesing it's just off by 1 spline. Good eye to catch that!
Cheer's, Neil.

Re: Day Cab Work Truck by Izzy

Thansk guys - I'm a bit worried about the front of the fenders area - with raising the cab and such I am not sure about that gap. Ive seen some deflector shields on some trucks - might give that a try.......

What ya think about the standard stacks - I kinda like them for a typical run about day cab... Think of it like that truck you see around town that has a good bit of character and brawn but isn't all that pretty.

No specific color scheme - I found a white with Black accent style that was kool.... but was laying down some primer the other day which was kinda dark and that was tempting too....

so not sure.

An update! I know it's been a long time - But I have to say that the waite was well worth it. I negotiated a custom paint job and here is the result. She's not done yet - still have tid bits to add.

So before you give me a bunch a bull - I know it has kenworth and pete parts intermixed. But I like it all just the same.

A big thank you to everyone for doing their part to help make this dream truck come true for me.

Very nice, I think King Hauler daycabs look good on stock rails like yours. Just curious why did you ditch the Crossforce tires? Are you going to add a wet kit?

AWESOME...I like the inspiration truck as well as the model. You do amazing work. Remember it's your truck, so how you put it together is just that...don't let anyone give you a bunch of bull...

Thanks Susan - there for a while I was real concerned about what others would thnk......

I had picked up a Tamiya bull bar for the front with a set of PMD bull horns for the hood - but Travis said he would kill me (and he was serious) if I did it........so I didn't wan to test my fate...
