http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX3768.jpgdry fitting the cab to measure and drill and tap the frame to mount the cab
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX3766.jpgit will be a long one if i use a scale trailer the size of izzy's cattle trailer i measured it and it will be 4" shy of the 6ft mark give or take as the fifth wheel is not mounted yet:D

Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer

Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
lookin good! i see your pmd order came in!
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
it sure did just waiting on a few more parts he didn't have in stock yet...goose everything good with you haven't heard from you in abit :D
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
Gonna be sweet when done. The PMD sections seem to keep the rails nice and true. I'll get some now.
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
they work great this is my third set as long as you file the frame ends straight where you cut them i usually measure by the bolt that goes in the top of the framethrough to the extension.i prefer these over getting a custom frame that you have to drill all of the holes in yourself all of my work is done by basic hand tools dremel ,drill are the only power tools i use.
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
the other thing is they don't make the frame sag if its done right and they are strong i put the trailer i bought from travis on both trucks with extensions and that trailer is heavy and they didn't bend even going over uneven ground:D
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
Coming along great can;t wait for some more updates...
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
Oooooh I'm going to watch this one!I love cab overs! How long are those rails?
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
not sure but they are the king hauler rails with a 3' extension from pmd
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
actually you got me curious so i just measured it and it looks to be 27 3/4 " long tip to tip
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
would be a great build, i'll stay tuned
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
That is a nice length for the chassis especially for a cabover and I always low and long the only way to roll...
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
here are some updates on this build
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX3936.jpghad to drill and tap the frame to install the fuel tanks and battery holder from the knight hauler because when the drome box is installed behind the cab there will be no access to the inside battery compartment
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX3937.jpghad to notch the battery holder because of the angle of the driveshaft
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX3942.jpgdrilled and tapped the frame so the base for the cab is installed and ready for the mfu components

Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
how do you do that i never figured out how you guys do it.i click on my picture in photobucket img copied then i come back to forum and paste as they call it is there a way to do multibles.can you click on several and paste them all or??
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
awsome prgress so far! i love the idea of using the haulers battery box to relocate it. And yes for adding more pics i just open 2 windows, one with photobucket and one for the forum, copy/paste. just hit enter to drop down to the next line, or type your text for that photo hit enter anc paste the next photo.. im gonna watch this build!! I love cabovers but i love the moving trucks. I got plans for one from united van lines thats got a crazy stretched sleeper and boxes.. but that build is a ways off yet. Cant wait to see more!!
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
I like the stretched frame, that's going to look sharp when it's done.
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer

Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...vero_beach.jpg Sorry Not trying to hijack your thread.. The box you have your MFU controls in, is that the hauler steps? I am looking for a way to mount mine without it sitting on top of my frame. |
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
yes its the king hauler steps .i was going to use the fuel tanks and battery box from the aeromax and mount the mfu switch in the bottom of the aeromax fuel tank which is where it mounts when you build that truck but i like the chrome ones from the knight hauler much better
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
as for the paint not sure which scheme i will be usiing but i do have the colours picked already i am thinking of using
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer

Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX4035.jpghere is the frame for the drome box .i used the top and bottom rails from the tamiya box trailer and the doors.normally drome boxes open only on the right side for curbside loading but i an=m putting one door on both sides because you never know which side of the street you will need to park on.now to add the panels then off to the paint shop:D:D
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
looks great buddy! hopefully ill be able to do up a nice trailer for you soon!
Re: kenworth k-100 cabover moving truck and trailer
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...h/SSPX5069.jpgdrome box finished and finally adding some colour to the truck as you can see from the paint masking tape
