"Tenfour tenfour - here is the rubber duck..."

I love this movie.

For me is it the "godfather" of trucker movies :D

The cab is perfect and i canĀ“t wait to see more.

In our german forum a user also built the "Rubber Duck" Mack with trailer. Perhaps you can still find here a few details for your project.

Thanks! Since the hood ornament that I have is a little big. I was going to try to carve one out of styrene or bondo. Not sure what else to do. Found them in 1/24 scale. If all else fails I can use the bulldog of a bruder.

Nice looking, where i can find a mack body?

Re: Rubber Duck

After seeing all these mack builds I finally broke down and got a new hood and cab from shapeways.Without a doubt looks more realistic then the other one.Now I just need a break from this snow so I have time to put some work on this build. Re: Rubber Duck

The new cab looks a lot nicer, as do the front fenders and hood, but I'm wondering if the front fenders are a little on the short and they are up a little high? Might just be that you haven't got the hood mounted in it's final position yet. I like it Fred!

Can't wait to see what you do with this one Fred, gonna be awesome I'm sure as usual.

Re: Rubber Duck

Alright! another Mack build....Off to a great start....

If you need any tips I can gladly help...Im building my RS700L pretty much the same as the rig in convoy but just with a smaller bunk and dual stacks.

The front fenders on the shapeways rig are slightly incorrect. the rear part of the fender on rs700l stop where the sides of the hood ends. Also the hood sides should not be lower than the cab bottom.......but I'm just being picky because I own the same truck and see these little things. A splash gaurd that mounts to the frame makes up the lower part of the fender...But that's just if your rivit counting. This cab and hood is hard to get right and they did a pretty good job on it considering.

Here is how I re did my fender to look more correct to scale...

Re: Rubber Duck

Always thought the 5th wheel mounting was goofy on the duck truck..think they wanted to look longer than it really would be?

Claus 02-11-2014 09:08 PM

Re: Rubber Duck

Would never get much weight up front like, would you…. That truck had goofy springs for a Mack of that vintage too, not the Camelback type, I know it's a road truck but not very Mack Truck.

Lmackattack 02-11-2014 09:18 PM

Re: Rubber Duck

Yea. Dan Bruno, the guy that built the duck truck a few years back did a lot of research on the real movie truck...Even located one of the trucks used in the movie that was still being used And one that was destroyed.

Some of The trucks were piced together for the movie others were good kits....here is a cool link.

Re: Rubber Duck

Wow, the 5th wheel is actually behind the rear axle's centerline .....what the?

Lmackattack 02-12-2014 01:09 AM

Re: Rubber Duck

Yep it was only a 35 or 40' trailer... I think dan had said the director requested it be mounted that far back to make it look as long and big as possible..? I know for one thing...if I was driving a fully loaded tanker truck it sure as **** would not be back that far!
