|

wow the angle of the front looks good as well as the grill!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Oooohhh you got one of those new fancy a$$ aluminium transmissions!!! They are tasty, very scale looking. Are they worth the coin?
Lovin' the styrene work too, cab is very authentic! |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Great looking coe. have you had it runing yet was wondering what you thought of that tranny you got in it.
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Look's like another great freightliner c/o coming our way.;) And the two hole wheels look very nice on her.:D
Big John |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Great start! looks very scale. Cant wait to see it working.
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
thanks everyone I do like the metal transmission it seems to be really torqy which i like can probably be geared down even more to have more power but I havent messed around with it much yet :)
I was thinking if i should ge the simulated air suspensions for this project would like freaken nice, but I really dont know if its any better than the stock one. If it has a lot of travel and easy movement that can climb over things easy i def would. but not sure yet, anyone tried one of them? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPER-8-Simu...item4602c67e49 I'd love to see a video of them working but I havent seen any yet |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
That freight shaker is sweet.Luv C.O.E.'s.That truck is gonna be a work horse for sure.Cant wait for the updates, great job.
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Hey skl1cent, I was looking at that transmission before and have to ask you something. It says it's 3 speed with metal gears, ball bearings etc, but does not require a servo. So is it automatic? Does it actually change gear itself according to throttle? If it does, that is WAY cool!
With regards to the 8 bag suspension, did you notice that the guy that makes / sells that is Russ, as in Russisloud? So send him a PM. I am sure he would be happy to answer any questions you have about it. |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Hey little buddy that is a killer cab you have out done your self again I cant wait to see more..
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Nice styrene work as usual!!! loving the build so far!! how long did it take you to build that rack box?
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Thanks Bro! :) Rack box only took me about 20 mins
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
man you got some sick stryrene skills!! that would have taked me 4 attempts and 3 days time to do it. :) Awesome work again!!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
haha you can do it, it was easy LOL :) at first you just take ur time and work slow but then after you know what you want, you will already know how to build what you picture in your mind. and you'll just go right at it without thinking ;) takes alot of time but you will get it with time n patience ;)
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
just a little steering action! :) I dremel the back of the steering knucle where it touches the actual axel now it has a little circle cut in right on that spot, gives the truck much more steering power :) thats always useful :) I know b/c my real truck turns on a dam dime the wheels stick out wayyyyyyyy out
Before http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/IMAG0376.jpg After http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/IMAG0379.jpg |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
that truck is looking real good! the rack looks perfect on their! and those rims i need some but dont have a truck for them. maybe a necklace thats how much i like them!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Can you take an underside pic of that steering mod??? in a 1:1 for my truck it would have to use a football field to turn around.. My old COE i used to drive turned on a dime.. course it had a shorter wheel base then the stretched framed globes we build. haha..
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Thanks Diesel :)
Thanks dabears :) I drive a fedex rig Freightliner P1000 heh turns pretty quick! heh Here's the pic of the little cut I did on the knuckle :) http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/IMAG0387.jpg that gives it a little more radious works pretty awesome :) |
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
thats pretty nifty thanks!! what does it do to the integrity of the parts? anything? doesnt look like it should affect it too much
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
well as far as I can see, it wouldnt affect anything. If any weight the weight lays over the axel basically where u have that bolt that holds the knuckle in place :) So I figued cutting that much of the knuckle wont have any effect on the integrity. when you look at the knuckle and you but it theres like a little triangle shape support on the top side. dont cut or go passed that triangle and you should be fine :)
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
sweet thats kinda what i thought looking at mine... I think maybe some of our fine aluminum machinists should produce some modified front end parts :) id buy some and wouldnt have to worry about strength
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
haha Agreed!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
very good idea thanx for info!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
thannks diesel :) btw, what trailer do you guys think it shall haul? heheh
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Hmmm that a tough question... so many look great behind these... tarp top belly dump like TC just made, hog hauler, i always think of farm trucks with these.. anything is going to look good behind it!
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2

Re: 2000 freightliner 2
i personally think cab overs look so good with flat beds and thats not just because im a flat bedder but the van i think takes away from the cab unless its a 351 wheelbase. or a tank trailer not to many real nice tanks out there
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
Awesome work, great job on the doors.
|
Re: 2000 freightliner 2
thanks ! :) and yea I was thinking about along flatbed too :) with some heavy equipment on it would be pretty awesome :)
