Direction needed on a trailer

I really need a trailer to pull with my Knight hauler, and looks like I am headed the direction of hauling construction equipment. :o I was eyeballing this trailer from PMD http://www.gardentrucking.com/Dropde...14896610140032 , any thoughts for or against this trailer? Suggestions on another? Still hoping to make it to St. Louis if at all possible...

If you do end up making it to STL I'm sure there will be plenty of trailers for you to haul around, that way you can get a feel for what you like. You might even leave with one, I bet someone would be willing to sell for the right price :D:D Alot of guys really enjoy the dump trailers, I know i do. One of those would be something to look into, that way you can actually do work.

I would love a dump trailer for sure! I was thinking the same thing about getting up there and seeing others trailers, sure hope I can make it to the meet.

tamiya has partnered with carson, i just found these today on the tamiya website. the problem is, there are one of each for you to decide on!
aside from how short it is, this one looks pretty cool! has airbags and all!

https://www.tamiyausa.com/product/it...duct-id=907050

this one has better scale looks i think, but could definately use the "modellers touch".

https://www.tamiyausa.com/product/it...duct-id=907000

im glad to see tamiya bringing some more 1/14 stuff online.
we're overdue on a new truck though....

How about PMD's lowboy? Much better looking trailer.

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

I like that PMD lowboy, is it the same one listed on gargen trucking as the 4 axle lowboy? I was thinking of having one I could load over the back end as it looks like I'll be starting out my construction business with a track loader but I'm not opposed to a detach either.

That Tamiya dump trailer probably wouldn't be hard to modify into something a little more scale looking, hadn't seen that one!

Claus 10-13-2012 05:20 PM

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

The two lowboys are similar but different, I don't think Ric sells the one listed on His website anymore.

Those Wedico dump trailers are not the best and look kind of funny with Tamiya trucks in my opinion.

hello drivers i have the tamiya/carson 3 axle dump trailer. it is to scale. it's a euro trailer so it is short. the only problem i had was the box is glued together. it did not hold together so i put angles inside and bolt it together. it works great now. i may be in in the show me next week if my friend can go. i will bring it with me till then happy something fuzzy

I think the M+J East dump box makes a great looking dump trailer. Some of the custom jobs on here are way awesome too. Not mine, belongs to Sweet Pete Wrecker.

$475 plus shipping

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

I think my m&j box was 500 complete with tarp and bows.Bit it was the longer one . Then you need a flatbed kit 200 and some sort of lifting mechanism 150.It is heavy but mine will lift the body full of rubber no problem and it is a nice looking trailer.I will have mine at eds this weekend

Woodhog- that is a really nice trailer !

sandfarmer 10-13-2012 10:10 PM

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

Love that one woodhog, and it looks like something you would see around my parts. Quite a few set up to haul grain, then they will pull the bows out and haul rock or lime. That is what I would be shooting for in a dump trailer!

sandfarmer 10-13-2012 10:33 PM

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

Ok, does M&J have a website or distributor to be able to look around? Google not providing anything this time...

Here is the one I did Melvin "M&J" it took lots of talking 5 years ago to get him to just sell me the dump he did not want to do it but I got mine and put it together and now he likes to sell them for RC trucks. But here is the deal Melvin is getting old and slow getting out of the hobby so if you want one better build one soon.. I got luck enuff to get the last powder coat chrome one now they are more dull silver.

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

I purchased a dump bed from him when he was in Indy this year. Was going to use it as a pup trailer. They are built solid for sure. You need to tell him what scale you want.I didnt think about it then, but when I put it on a chassis I saw that it was more like 1/16 scale for wedico. When I talked to him he said he could build them in different lengths and styles and with rounded bulkheads.I'll snap a couple of pics and post the bed I got.

Quite obvious those are built by a craftsman, the attention to detail is awesome, looks just like the 1:1....which is kinda the point I guess! Have you made the pup out of it yet or is the scale going to prevent that?

I have 3 choices.1 widen it 2 buy a wedico 3 sell it.I'm using it as a load on my flatbed for now untill I decide what direction to go.

Get some Wedico axles and a Bruder MACK cab and it will make a nice little dump truck.

Fred mine is the 1/16 scale and it fits great not to narrow.. Little wider than the wheels. Is he doing 1/14 scale last i talked to him he did not want to get into building 2 sizes..

Thanks! That will be option 4, I already have a couple bruder macks. Now the fun part, find wedico drive train. Option 5 use wedico trailer axles and make it a pup trailer

The dump bed is 6 5/8 wide. When I talked to him he said he could make it in different sizes.I forgot what he said the maximum length was.He could make it a flat side or with the ribs,a square or rounded bulkhead with or with out top boards.

Would love to have one of them behind my Wedico. Very nice guys.

I knew he said since there was interest in it now that he was going to play around with it but i did not know he was going to play that much.. I think the longest is 14 ribs..

so double the length of the one on your flat bed frame?

where do you get in touch with this guy? very nice work imo, he needs a vendors section!

dabears 10-14-2012 12:34 PM

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

I agree he needs to get on here and set up a vendors section with a lot of options that we can pick from that would be cool. I think the majority of us would love to own a dump trailer, hyd or screw drive.

How are his ran? of is it just the box and you go from there?

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

Half the links on PMD site are broke, I get very little in the way of timely responses to questions I ask, and I have heard folks that are really upset with lowboys from PMD site after paying 2500.00 to 3000.00 for a product. Picked up some accessories from them and the precision is pretty lackluster and inconsistent.

sandfarmer 10-14-2012 04:36 PM

Re: Direction needed on a trailer

I noticed all the broken links last night. I saw a comment something like "he doesn't sell the one on the site anymore" about a trailer. So I guess he doesn't keep the page updated or take it seriously anymore or what?
