Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Well here goes my attempt at a 900L. I've been gathering parts for quite some time and doing a little work here and there for the past month or two. Still gathering parts as I go. If I can't do the body work any justice at least it will be a good showcase for the vendors parts. :D I am not doing everything to scale, just to what I can figure with my eye and pictures. I do plan on installing lights for the first time on this truck too.
So.. I extended the cab http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3ae50343.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0deac595.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd1dbc3d7.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps08ec404a.jpg Made my own personal rear window http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8bb66935.jpg Made a mold for the hood so I could make it one piece http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps62b34e9e.jpg heated the styrene in the oven (first to 300 then up to 350 to tighten up to the form) then trimmed it up http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...psea77ad76.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...psde6e9f86.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0b09bd06.jpg filler/massage/filler/massage http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1ec45375.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps646a8f7b.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa594eaa4.jpg Used Troy's technique for shaping the fenders http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps882a4228.jpg http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps079621ec.jpg Still a long ways to go but feeling pretty good about my progress. Looking Ben, nice job on the hood form. Innovative approach. Can't wait to see more.

Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Just remember, in replicas – measurements are good, but what looks pleasing to the eye is of much more importance.
Your truck is looking really good. :) :) :) We will all be watching with anticipation as your work progresses. :D :D :p - RCT |
Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
I like the custom rear window. And the hood is cool. Plus being a KW build always peaks my interest. Looking good.

Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Wow! i was really leaning towards a 900b on my next build but how can you argue with the big "L". Very cool.

Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Really nice work, Ben. Your hood, fenders, and cab modifications turned out great! Looks like a very good start to a W900L.

Sandcraft is saying put an arched backer piece on the inside of the fender where you made all the cuts to reinforce the fender. Travis |
Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Sweet looking truck Snochaser! I like the idea of using an oven to heat styrene to fit a mold. Great progress.

Re: Kenworth W900L (daycab)
Well haven't done a whole lot with the cab, I did however cut the entire nose off cause I didn't like the angle. I thought it needed more downward slope, so I have reattached it now and I'm fill'n and sand'n.

Waiting on some paint.....put my trans together with the helical gears and PMD direct bolt-on 4:1, powered by a 12V brushless , nice rear suspension from RCBMIN.
