Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Hi everybody,
I would like to show you some pics of my Komatsu WA500-6 from Fumotec http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3963326638.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6633353663.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3566306234.jpg I will add some more picture from the set up. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Nice to see one of these new machines on the forum. What do you think of the WA500-6? I haven't heard very much about these wheel loaders, nor have we seen any real video footage of them operating. I'm surprised there aren't more builds or threads showing them off!

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
It'd be great to see some video of it, if you have it?
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Hi,
at the moment I have only one video form the begining. 1. Test You can see the wheelloader is playing with 3 x 1.5L full water-bottles. No ballast at the back. No problem at all. I will do some additional video, but the weather was sooo bad. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
I will start at the beginning: I ordered the Komatsu Nov. 2012 and four weeks later I received a well packed carton with all the parts in it.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3862366538.jpg The manual is give in .pdf-form and need to be printed. The metall parts are made of cold rolled steel. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3761396531.jpg and at the most parts it is spot-welded. All weldings are good connected even you can finde holes, which need to be filled later before painting. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6630613930.jpg |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Very nice machine and love the detail! Looks very sturdy and operates great. Thanks for sharing.
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Nice piece of equipment looks like it is well made
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Impressive lifting capacity! It seems to handle the water bottles, even without the hyrdaulics running at max flow.
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Do want!!! This is my next purchase as soon as all the stars align!
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
To work so easy you need a good hydraulic system.
The hydraulik pump is from Jung-Fluid. In industry the pump is running with 80 - 100 BAR. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3863626464.jpg Here in the Komatsu the system is tested up to 30 BAR. I run 18 - 20 BAR. The hydraulic cylinders come ready mounted. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3730353237.jpg |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
I forgot to ask. I've not seen a photo of the Fumotec unit next to another model for size reference. I know it's larger than the 966 WDC but still haven't seen a size relevance photo. If you have a Tamiya truck or something common like that, and get a minute to snap a photo, I'd love to see this.

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
FYI sizes:
WA500 Länge: 705mm Breite: 230mm Höhe: 270mm Wedico 966: Length: app. (612mm) 24.09", Width: app. (211mm) 8.31", Height: app. (250mm)9.84" So the WA500 looks about 10% larger than the 966. Not sure how much heavier, but I suspect it is a lot... The 966 is only about 8kg(17lb). I am sure some one can dig up a picture or two... Interesting. AP |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Weight : 13 kg
In original: The WA500-6 is used in small minings. It's not a machine to use on normal working ground. CU |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
I just checked the bucket 248 mm outside.

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Hello,
As wanted I did a snapshot of the wheelloader and a truck. It´s my 1:12 Faun L908SA 6x6 trialtruck. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3366633666.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6132656364.jpg So you see the Komatsu is a little bit bigger than a normal wheel loader which can be found at a building yard. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Thanks for the photo. That Trials truck looks like a good time!
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Looks like an awesome model, nice build
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
thanks, yes the FAUN is a good time.
Yesterday I started to create an area to run my gardentrial-competition on next sunday. In the past I did this by hand, now I used my Komatsu. I did some video, looking forward to upload to youtube. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Hello everybody,
until the videos are available on youtube I would like to show you more details from inside the FUMOTEC. Four brushless outrunners are doing the job of driving. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3366333163.jpg Every motor is controlled by a single robbe roxy. The four controller are connected via double y-cable at one chanel. Each motor has around 100w power. They find there place of working in the axles. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6530613030.jpg |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
The videos of my yesterday action are online.
They are a little bit long, but I didn´t want to cut, so this is real live without any palliation. (I found a new word in dictionary :) ) Driving school Part 01 Driving school Part 02 |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Looks like she needs some weight for traction. BBs in tires should do the trick. Looks like the tires don't have a problem slipping on the wheels. Are the wheels beadlocks or just glued?
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
The axles and brushless gear motors look powerful. Thanks for sharing the videos. Haven't seen anyone post videos of this loader working yet.
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Unfortunatly the tires are only glued.
If it would be fixed by beadlock it would be easier to add some weight in it. Sorry about my German question: what do you mean with BB? |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Ball Bearings or Lead Shot
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
If the tires are the same as the Stahl 922, which I believe they are, there solid tires. So weighting them won't be an option.
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
The tires are from AFV-Modell => Goodyear 29,5R25 GP-4D

I thought about this, disatvantage the noise you have while the wheels are truning. Water plus antifrize is may be an option. I will discuss at the weekend with friends. May be they can work out the back end weight from fully brass. At the moment it´s plastic filled with lead shot. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
some more pics from the set up.
to fix the fenders on both sides I placed a screw in the back of the front end. with a smal water-level I could adjust it. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6635316364.jpg |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Most holes are drilled, but the winding must be cutted.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3861393363.jpg I use a old drill chuck to hold the Thread cutter. |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
The hydraulic parts have just enough space in the frontend.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6263356638.jpg |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
And the rear end is filled with battery, pump, oil tank and so on.

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
That interior is much more cramped than I had imagined. I was hoping it'd be more roomy to make maintenance easier.

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Very nice running machine, great build!
That Jung pump sure is quite, fast and smooth even running at 18 to 20 bar.. where could that pump be purchased separately? Are you running the pump at 12 volts/3s lipo? Do you know how much electrical current the pump is drawing with your setup? Thank You very much for sharing! |

Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Hi, best thing to contact Frank directly.
The pump is on his side: Jung Pumpe http://www.fumotec-shop.de/images/dscf0832_160.jpg I run the Komatsu with 3S 5000mAh Lipo. My Futaba RC-System is not able to mix to chanels as V. It would be the best to run the pump smoothly just with small speed and only power up if pressure is needed. But my FX18-1 can´t do so. So I have to save my money to buy a RC-System which can do so. |

It is disappointing how many radios don't have very many mixes available on them. i prefer 7 mixes.. 3 for hydraulics and 4 for sound. (6 sound mixes for an excavator) |
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
The power will have a peak starting the engine, so it´s better to run slowly.
|
Re: Komatsu WA500-6 by Fumotec
Very nice machine! I need to learn how to use these mixes you guys are talking about. I have plenty of radios that can do it, I just can't :(
