1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Hi guys,
I am Derrick, friend of Izzul. Previously, together we built the "1/10 Komatsu PC650" and were posted on this forum at: http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...VATOR+MALAYSIA the cost to built the 1/10 is expensive and to travel the huge excavator is killing. some of the local rc fans had requested a smaller, budget-able and less-power version, the "1/14 Komatsu PC200" And the story goes on again... |

Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Great idea putting the swing motor in the cab area, all too often a wasted area by other model companies. ;)
Steel fabrication is becoming more popular all the time & so much simpler to form & weld than aluminum... not to mention the weight advantage that these models are always lacking. The last pic of the press, is it a place where you work daily? Are you a metal worker by trade? |

Attachment 3649 Attachment 3650 aluminum is light weight but don't have the strength, need up to thickness 3mm to nearly equal the strength of 1m steel. while my welder always quit worry on welding aluminum, tricky skill needed. while steel is less costly, but the rusting problem. epoxy powder coat will solve it. i am a CAD drafter in a sheet metal fabrication factory. so it was easy for me to done all those metal stuff. i do the drawing, while my guy do all the bending, welding, drilling and etc. they are experience and skillful worker, but sometimes they got me boil up my head when they create rejected parts. |
Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Very nice job. I really like the size of your excavator and the power. Ed

Attachment 3652 Attachment 3653 Attachment 3654 look familiar, isn't? No, is not the one you think. still it is a same old spool-valve but internally i redesign the whole thing for better seal to prevent over-flowing, improving the fluid route and adapt for bigger size connector and hose. ease of attaching extra flange if needed |
Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Yes, looks very familiar ;)... so what size ID hose will you be using?

it's my first 3d-print out experience. it took me 7hrs just for waiting on this front-cabin cover done printed out. i still have to do the rear counter-weight cover and engine cover. how many long hours it is going take anymore?
No, i put aside this 3d-print for awhile, i need to install those metal parts now and have the system running, on priority. Attachment 3658 Attachment 3659 Attachment 3660 Attachment 3661 Attachment 3662 |

got those sheet metal parts back from powder coat
Attachment 3666 so does partial of those machining parts. while my factory will have the tools and machine to do all those sheet metal but do not have the facilities to machine these parts. luckily i can always get help from next door. the cnc machining workshop is just next to my work place. Attachment 3667 Attachment 3669 i lay out all the parts i got today, it's look like a complete set but no, still some critical parts the machining shop owe me. Attachment 3670 oh well, chinese new year is just few days away. all works at metal shop is shutting down. i need to get prepare for the festive. i think i will just put on-hold for 10 days holiday. |

how are you? how is the progress of your excavator? it will be slightly ease for me on this model since all the pain i got from the PC650. tell you a secret, we nearly gave up that time, problem keep occur one by one, sleepless night thinking of solution. lack of experience. but still there a challenge for this model as it's a PC200 which i had to squeeze in all the system in to its small compartment. how about this way, Kevin. i try my best to finish this a.s.a.p in order to bring this model to SG, to play along with yours. how is that? by that time you must too able to finish yours , ok? Happy Chinese New Year! to you too. wishing you have a prosperous yearS |

my 650 boom is from 1.5mm thickness, is more than enough to lift a child. as long as its had the right structure. i know how u felt, its not a fun thing to do, moving the heavy machine around. i will have second thought now, if friends ask to bring it out for a play. |

the machinist really keep his word, finish up all the parts before the holiday.
tempting to install it during the CNY holiday. sure will get nagging from my mom and gf, almost spend most of the time on the excavator even during festive holiday. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psaf68bcfd.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps0b7f63ec.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps5e6c7402.jpg just in time send for black anodise. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psf4818f16.jpg |

Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Not bad for only 8bar.
What's the weight of the model? |
Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
Quote:
from the dimension you gave, i assume its a 20mm dia bore cyclinder, which same as mine. i am using this for the 650: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psc3622cfc.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...psac41b1e5.jpg its an industrial pump. the flow rate for the pump its 0.2cc/rev and 0.1cc/rev. directly couple to a outer-run. it able to perform smoothly. what do u think kevin? i can sell this to you as used parts for RM600 a pump attached together with outer-run as a set. [while i just got a smaller pump, believe to be lower flow rate but able to deliver enough bar, run smaller motor for better energy efficient, but yet to full test it.] |
Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build
I just spent some time looking through your blog and you have several very impressive builds. This excavator looks to be a top notch build as well. I have a couple of questions. I noticed in your dump trucks that you use the UMS hydraulic pump and valves. How are those holding up for you. I have heard mixed reviews, but have not heard anything lately about the durability of the UMS parts. What type of pump and valves do you plan to use on this excavator?
Thanks |
Re: 1/14 Komatsu PC200 build

yes, i m using the UMS pump and valves for the dump truck project. the UMS did come with the "pressure over-loading cut off board" instead of regulator. yup, no regulator. when the cylinder extend to the max, pressure from the pump keep gaining while there no regulator to route the extra pressure back to tank. now where the "pressure over-loading cut off board" come in working with delay of 3 second to cut off. about the valve, i had to change a better quality O-ring. as my 1st test, leakage from the valve, so does to the 2nd and 3rd set. i guess, the default O-ring is not the good quality type. the pump, the sound of the motor is quit high pitch due to its brushless motor. therefore, its gain flow rate instantly. pressure as real as its stated max 10 bar, more than that, i have not yet to push it. |
