Re: Military wheels ??
Lynn , the large fits the style I can show you a pic of a real 1 if you want . IH used that style for a few trucks . I happen to have 1

Re: Military wheels ??
for looks i like the small ones, but im not shure what a real one looks like
|
Re: Military wheels ??
I personally like the small ones also but the large ones are closer to scale. May depend upon which vehicle I put them on.

Re: Military wheels ??
i like the big ones. if its a military vehicle, they do everything heavy duty

Re: Military wheels ??
Lynn,
The larger nut wheels look better than the small as they sit can't wait to see them on the truck your thinking of. Merritt |

Re: Military wheels ??
Thanks guys for the opinions. Actually there will be 3 sets made. 2 for trucks and 1 for a trailer. 1 set is for my duece and a half. No pics of any of them until the trailer is closer to finish and I get the tires for it. You will just have to suffer until then :D:D
I agree Paul, where has Merritt been hiding? :) |
Re: Military wheels ??
If you're still choosing, I'd go with the small ones. I think they look more to scale. But it's really you're opinion that counts. :D

Re: Military wheels ??
I vote for the big ones... Looks more like what I remember seeing on M-35's (decades ago! OMG!)
|
Re: Military wheels ??
I too would have to say the big ones..
Nice looking wheels. -Mike |

Re: Military wheels ??
Are you producing these wheels fore sale?
They are just about perfect for the project I am working on. I would need 9 of them. Prefferably in a 1.9 config. Not sure on the width just yet. |
Re: Military wheels ??
The WW2 WC Dodges used a 5 bolt Budd wheel and the lug nuts were 1-1/2'' hex.

Re: Military wheels ??
Tim, I tried to send a PM, but maybe it never got through. There is a large Lego tire called a 24 x 43 (part number 3740) that looks very much like a WW2 uni-directional tire. It is made out of a dense foam, and has a more squared cross-section than I would like it to have (I have not figured out a good way to round it off) but it will fit Tamiya semi-truck wheels if you cut out the 6 'stiffening ribs' that run around the outside of the wheel. You can find them on Evilbay, but you have to be patient - the people who sell them there try and charge $10 per tire, if they can get away with it. -Mike
