What kind of camera?

Just wondering what kind of camera's, (video, or picture camera), are you guy's using? I am interested in filming my contruction equipment, and I have seen some good footage on the Forum. Leaning toward the picture camera that will also do video, but not sure if you can do lengthy video's at fair quality?

Re: What kind of camera?

hi,
you can spend a small fortune on cameras, I use a go pro for my motor cross riding , really good camera but not too cheap.
most of my photos on JCB construction thread are taken with my cell phone its an old Samsung s3, must have about 3 hours of video on it at the moment plus photos , also have this nifty little camera that I got off ebay for $15 and it comes with an 8 gig micro SD card. It comes with multiple different mounting brackets and stands, you can clip it to the seats in a semi and look out the window as your driving , really small and very cheap.

This is a go pro camera, different badge. $300 verses $100.

Re: What kind of camera?

For taking photo's I used a Nikon D3100, for video at the moment I used a Panasonic SDR-H85, please note the camera and the video camera were not bought for the hobby, I already own them before I got in to the hobby,

I am now looking to but a video camera like a go pro to set up on a pole so I can follow the rc toys around at their level with out have to bend over all the time.

All good Info guy's, I do have the original Go Pro that came out and I use it for Motocross and Enduro like Andy does. I think the sd card in it is 30 gig, cant remember, but Iwill try this because like kingcam, I can get closer to the ground.

That's a good idea, do these small go pros have any stabilization? Wonder how hard making a small gyro stabilization thingy would be? I see you guys taking vids close up like you said, but I think if I were holding a pole and driving, it would give you guys a headache to watch it!! I'm not shaky but I am when it comes to walking and filming

I use a GoPro on my head. It's a pretty tiny camera, easily fits inside cabs for FPV, but I hate them kind of vids, makes me dizzy. I like the vids that are made with the camera way back so I can see everything going on.

I got tired of always adjusting my tripod ,watched a few vids on camera cranes ,decieded to build a mini crane ,mostly built from scrap stuff ,did a test vid ,works great ,works great for different camera angles as well

Re: What kind of camera?

I think the Go pros are overrated, but they do work good, mine doesn't have HD, but it seems to have very good Photos and video. Coopers Idea with that camera that looks like a Go Pro would be the way to go for $100.00. Great idea, pumptech on the camera stabalizer/holder.
