Hay Hauler

I've been wanting to build a Hay Hauler ever since I got started in this crazy hobby, its not my first attempt on a hay truck, more like the fourth or fifth build I'm starting on this idea, its all leftover parts, only thing bought is the springs for the trailer and pup, I'm using springs from the reefer trailer on the drive axle, and on the trailers so I can keep it as low as possible. front axle is lowered and moved forward, front fenders are cut and need to be reshaped to fit the lopros, headlights are going to be cut off, I'm planning to shorten and lowering the bunk, so still a long way to go, I'm not decided on colours yet but thinking all black, no chrome at all, opinions are welcome ;)

Thanks. I got pretty much everything i need for a set of double trailers, biggest problemer is how to make the hay bales.

Black and chrome is my vote! You can find 3inch craft bales online, but be careful a full load could get a little spendy.

black and chrome works every time Trucker_Jo.. I've seen the bales BRUDER makes, but thats gonna cost me an arm and a leg, my guess is at least 200 bales ;) I'm thinking of using some of that blue foam i've seen used for fiberglass, hoping it will be possible to make it look like haybales with some paint and maybe grass

Roundabout,

Cool truck, are you planning on making a shorter sleeper like the 1:1?

As far as the bales go....go to a store like Hobby Lobby, you can find foam blocks there, either white foam or the green kind for flowers. Cut the block so you can attach 1 row of bales al the way around. That way it will look like you have a full load, but really don't. Save you some serious money.

Thanks up9018. I'm gonna lower and shorten the sleeper, with some luck tonight. I've thought about the green flowet foam but i Think the stuff i've seen here i Denmark is to soft,

Well you can use just about anything to make a core. I have seen people simply fold up a cardboard box too.

Looking forward to more on this build, keep it up. Nice work

i would like a squeeze so i could load and unload, so the bales gotta be pretty durable/firm. and thanks again up9018

Hi Roundabout. Your truck is sure lookin slammin. Is the guy with the ten gallon hat the one financing this project?:D

Re: Hay Hauler

Love the slammed look..nice! Mow your lawn or find some cut grass and let it get all dry and brown. Then get your high density blocks cut and carved to your desired shape and coat them with glue and roll them in that dried glass. You can cut up some orange or blue string and tie them up!

..............At least that sounds like a good idea.

I just checked out rcbrmin for a set of wheels because yours look so good. I have a couple of questions that maybe you can help me with. First, the front wheel is 5mm wider than the rear. Will the stock tires fit, or do I need to get a wider tire? Second, there is a bearing or hex option for the wheels. If it's a front and rear set, that option shouldn't even be there. Thanks for helping out a noob.

Roundabout 09-20-2015 12:19 PM

Re: Hay Hauler

Just go for the front wheels with the hub for bearings, i Think you have both options on the complete sets if you want a truck with all wheel drive. if you look at the front wheels it Will sat WIDE if you have to use the super single tyre.

Roundabout 09-20-2015 12:24 PM

Re: Hay Hauler

Cut In to the driver today, now I only need to work out how to fit it In the truck.
