1/14 scale European Race Truck?

I was thinking about taking a 1/14 4x2 truck and making it an European Race Truck.

Has anyone ditched the 3 speed in favor of a motor mount between the rails that directly connects the drive shaft to the output of the motor?

I know Tamiya Tamiya makes a 1/10 scale off of a 4wd sedan chassis, but I want one built out of a 1/14 kit. like the 1:1 scale race trucks. No lights, No MFU.

If/when you find one, I'd be interested in getting one of them as well. I DON'T wish to spend the $$ for a 4:1 gear reduction unit, when one can just get the appropriate geared gearmotor, & have the same results.

I am thinking about mounting the front axle on top of the springs rather than below it. That would lower the front end a little bit. But could something similar be done on the rear?

This sounds like a fun project!
For the record, the tamiya race truck on a TT-01 sedan chassis you mentioned is 1/14 for the body. If you want a lightweight body to actually race, it looks like it could be adapted to the 1/14 chassis.
Looks like most of the racing trucks are based on the lower local distribution cabs, like Scania P vs Scania R long haul cab. Converting the Tamiya R to P is a pretty quick job, and it can be lowered another 6-7mm (1/4" ?)by turning the front chassis brace / cab mount upside down.

I don't remember the details, but a gentleman at Indy had this race truck. I think it was a 1/10 road car with semi body.
