Reg, this is another outstanding boat. I very much enjoy your boat builds, since growing up on a pleasure boat in the Great Lakes. I never got to see the ocean trawlers but seen alot of old GL fishing boats and always thought they were neat! Is the anchor winch operational?

Thanks very much for following along. I know this forum wasn't really intended for boat builds but it's nice to have a section for those of us who build and or enjoy them:). The anchor winch is not functional but I suppose it wouldn't be that difficult to make one that was.

I picked up some small stranded wire from the craft section at Walmart today. When I got home I finished up most of the rigging and put on the boat name and numbers. The wire works pretty good and looks quite scale. I still have a list of things to do but I believe that I will have it finished before my buddy arrives this coming week...I hope!

Thanks Lou, I got it done in time!lol Are these things ever really done:confused:? The windows in Jackfish aren't blown out but one is cracked...Really heavy weather:rolleyes:.

I finished up some details in the last two days. All that's left to do on my list(list could have been longer) is install the proper battery once I pick it up tomorrow. Considering the frustration I had with it in the first 8 months:rolleyes: I'm pretty happy with how it has turned out. Now I find myself hoping that my friend doesn't like it so that I can keep it:cool:. Hopefully I can get some video of the two boats cruising the pond in a few days...

Reg,

Nice video!

How and what are you using to cut the aluminum, specifically the square windows in the wheelhouse? And, is that part .032 or what? Again, very nice, thanks for the thread!

Jim

I use a scroll saw to cut out the windows and then file them straight if need be. The wheelhouse-etc on the Blue Bayou is .050, Jackfish is .063 everywhere.

A couple pics from today. Hopefully get some more time in tomorrow.

They look so good, I almost expect to see people running on the deck of those vessels.

I like the buoys that you added side for the lines.

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

Thanks very much. It was really great to get both boats on the water together while my buddy was here. The blue one has gone home with him now, far away from the coast so I doubt it will ever happen again.:( I have to say that it was a great moment to see my friends reaction when he first saw the boat in our shop. He didn't know that it was anything more than a hull and motor and was completely surprized by it...

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

you're a very talented bloke Reg, no two ways about it. Hats off to you on these builds mate. Making the boat from almost nothing? Crickey, I've seen kits that wouldn't come anywhere near the quality.

Keep it up mate

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

Making things from very little is where it's at for me. I never have a big budget but I don't mind putting in the hours to make up for it. I appreciate the compliment and will keep it up as long as this hobby puts a smile on my face:D:D:D!
