The Daycab
Hey guys! I got a King Hauler kit over Christmas, and finally worked up the nerve to chop off the sleeper. It went off without a hitch and I sanded it down! I'm stoked! Now I just need to work up the nerve to turn on my homicidal camera!:D Well, we'll see about the pic's, this occasion is definetly worth it!:D I need some tips on a removable back panel for it!:D
Thanks guys!:D Oh, and Freddy, it's going to be black!:D Trucker out. |
Re: The Daycab
Alright, here are the pics!
I used a normal saw for this cut, nothing fancy!:D Rear of the cab is a little scratched up, but hey, this ain't no show truck!:D:D All I need now is a radio, a receiver, a battery, and some black paint!:D:D:D http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/P1050678.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/P1050680.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/P1050681.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/P1050682.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/P1050683.jpg Thanks for taking a look!:D |
Re: The Daycab
that truck with the frame lenght it has now looks really good:)
just cutting the sleeper off really improved the looks keep up the good work |
Re: The Daycab
Great start on the daycab! When I built one, I too was looking for a solution to get access to the battery and turn the truck on... I didn't want to chop and hinge the hood, so I looked around at what I had... and I used the rear door from the sleeper. I cut it in half and glued it back together... a lil sanding and body work and you're good. I got this idea from Ed.

Re: The Daycab
That's a pretty cool idea, Rod. I wonder how it would work if you moved the latches down lower, and the rear window up higher. You would have to chop and section the rear wall to relocate the latches, but I think that might work out even better. Any thoughts on that?
Trucker, congrats on cutting up a perfectly good cab. Now it's even better looking then before. Don't worry about those scratches. A little glazing putty, with some sanding, and no one will even know. |

Re: The Daycab
Thanks a bunch guys!
Rod, that is exacly what I was thinking, minus the window.:D Nate that idea sounds good too! And this truck is gonna be a all-purpose hauler/ prime mover. It will have a taller ride height! Any suggestions on this? I'd like a heavy-duty bumper on it, and maybe a headache rack. Maybe go 6x6 eventually. Might even paint the grille and wheels! I'll go pick up some styrene, paint, electronics, and... what kind of putty? Oh man! I'm getting all kinds of adrenaline from the thought of more truck building!!!:D More to come tomorrow!!!:D:D:D Trucker out!:D |
